Though we may be virtually powerless to change the present course of evil events (2nd Timothy 3:13), we can allow the awareness of these developments to work a change in us! A church member who understands what The Order of Skull and Bones is all about will not get bent out of shape if a visitor sits in his seat. Americans have become "thin-skinned" these days, being filled with sinful pride and self-righteousness. There are bigger things happening in the world.

A Paradox?
A real Christian is an odd number, anyway. He feels supreme love for the One whom he has never seen; talks familiarly every day to Someone he cannot see; expects to go to heaven on the virtue of Another; empties himself in order to be full; admits he is wrong so he can be declared right; goes down in order to get up; is strongest when he is weakest; richest when he is poorest and happiest when he feels the worst.
He dies so he can live; forsakes in order to have; gives away so he can keep; sees the invisible; hears the inaudible’ and knows that which passeth understanding.
Madeleine Murray O'Hare complained she didn't want prayer in our schools. And we said OK.
Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school either, because the Bible says... thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.
Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem. We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And we said OK.
Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.
Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with "WE REAP WHAT WE SOW."
