Some 12 percent of
minors held in government custody are sexually
abused, and in some facilities the rate reaches a
stunning one in three children, says a report
released Thursday by the Bureau of Justice
Statistics.
The first-ever
National Survey of Youth in Custody found that
no less than 10 percent of the 26,550 juveniles
being held in detention facilities in the US are
abused by staff at the facility, while another 2.6
percent report abuse at the hands of other inmates.
Among the facilities
studied were six identified to have rates of sexual
abuse as high as three in 10.
According to the Associated Press, those six
facilities are Pendleton Juvenile Correctional
Facility in Indiana; Corsicana Residential Treatment
Center in Texas; Backbone Mountain Youth Center in
Swanton, Maryland; Samarkand Youth Development
Center in Eagle Springs, North Carolina.; Cresson
Secure Treatment Unit in Pennsylvania; and the
Culpeper Juvenile Correctional Center, Long Term, in
Mitchells, Virginia.
“The widespread sexual
abuse of children in juvenile facilities shows that
public officials either aren’t paying attention or
can’t be bothered to do the right thing,”
said Jamie Fellner, senior counsel for Human
Rights Watch. “The high rates of victimization are
powerful testimony to the failure of governments to
safeguard the boys and girls in their care.”
The study was mandated
by a 2003 law, the National Prison Rape Elimination
Act, which also created the National Prison Rape
Elimination Commission. Human Rights Watch notes
that six months ago the commission set out
“comprehensive, effective standards for the
prevention, detection, and punishment of prison
rape,” but the Justice Department has yet to act on
those recommendations.
“Every day Attorney
General Eric Holder fails to promulgate national
prison rape elimination standards is another day in
which kids and adults are being abused behind bars,”
Fellner said. “The attorney general already has on
his desk proposed standards that reflect the best
thinking and effective practices to end this
widespread scourge. There is no need to reinvent the
wheel or to delay moving forward.”
The survey found that
gay youth were at higher risk than heterosexual
youth, with one in five reporting abuse at the hands
of a staffer or fellow inmate. Males were more
likely to report being abused than females (10.8
percent to 4.7 percent). And 95 percent of those
abused by staff reported that the abuser was female.
But that number may be influenced by the fact that
91 percent of youth in custody are male.
Although advocates
said the level of abuse wasn’t surprising, the
prevalence of sexual abuse by staff,
particularly female workers, was shocking, said
Linda McFarlane, deputy executive director of
Just Detention International, which fights to
end sexual abuse of those who are detained.
“Many of these are
already the most vulnerable and traumatized
youth from all of our communities and they’re
placed for custody because they’re considered to
be a danger,” she said. “If sexually abused in
those very institutions that are supposed to
help them prepare for life in the community,
then it’s just an incredible travesty.”
The Associated Press also
notes that sex abuse by staffers was higher in
state-run facilities than in privately-run or
municipal detention centers, and smaller facilities
appear to have lower abuse rates than larger ones.
The study investigated
a 12-month period, and was carried out from June,
2008, to April, 2009.

The FBI raid that rescued 105 sexually exploited
children from a sex trafficking ring last weekend has highlighted the
vulnerability of foster children. Sixty percent of runaways who are
victims of sex trafficking had been in the custody of child protective
services. Many times when children are rescued from sex traffickers they
are put right back into the foster care system to repeat the same vicious
cycle. Victims may even recruit other children into the very abuse they had
just left. With the “child protectors” snatching even more children into the
system to get more federal funding, there has become a serious shortage of
good foster parents to handle the surplus of children, which means the bar
has been set really low for people who can qualify to foster.
Those who are paid to protect children couldn’t care less about their safety
so long as the feds come through with the big bucks. Sex traffickers prey on
helpless children who feel abandoned by their families and lost in a system
of providers that don’t bother to follow up on reports of neglect. These are
the type of children that are easily groomed for child sex slavery and
prostitution. The demand for child sex trafficking is even greater now that
sex-trafficking and pedophila have moved out of isolation and into a
worldwide internet-based community of people who share images and
techniques. According to the International Center For Missing And Exploited
Children (ICMEC), of the millions of pornographic images on the internet,
10% are of infants and toddlers, while 76% are of pre-pubescent children.
Let that sink in.
Almost 90% of all porn on the internet is of exploited children. That’s why
the Global Center For Women and Justice has said that “human trafficking is
far more lucrative than the sale of drugs or arms because the children
involved are considered reusable assets.” The consumers are not who you
would suspect, according to the ICMEC, “They are doctors, lawyers, business
executives, teachers, coaches and everyone in between. They don’t look
evil.” Indeed, you can still get a government contracted job even if you’re
a convicted pimp.

law banning contractors who buy and sell humans from federal work, zero
prosecutions have taken place. Organized trafficking requires systemic
corruption and as the FBI’s sting operation proved, it’s a very
sophisticated network operating globally. A

A private equity fund run by Goldman Sachs Group Inc (GS.N) has agreed to
sell its stake in the media company that runs a sex trafficking forum back
to company's management, a spokeswoman said on Sunday.
GS Capital Partners III on Friday signed a deal to sell its 16 percent stake
in Village Voice Media, which owns the website, called Backpage.com.
The fund began negotiations with Village Voice Media in March, after
deciding in 2010 that it had grown "uncomfortable with the direction of the
company," and Goldman's inability to influence its operations, said Andrea
Raphael, a Goldman Sachs spokeswoman.
The sale was first reported in a Nicholas Kristof column in The New York
Times on Saturday. The fund's investment was also the subject of a Kristof
column last week.
Raphael said the fund invested $30 million in the Village Voice in 2000. The
investment was converted into a 16 percent minority stake when the Village
Voice merged with New Times Inc in 2006.
She declined to disclose the sales price, but said the fund lost a "vast
majority" of its investment.
Village Voice Media was not immediately available for a comment.
Online prostitution advertising generated at least $3.1 million in revenue
in February, on five U.S. websites, an increase of 9.8 percent from a year
earlier, according to interactive media and classified advertising
consultant AIM Group. Nearly 80 percent of the revenue was attributed to
Backpage.com, AIM said in a report published March 22.
Village Voice Media owns the alternative newspaper The Village Voice, which
was founded in 1955.
Over the years, the newspaper has published groundbreaking investigations
and received three Pulitzer Prices. Its back pages, in contrast, have for
decades been the bastion of escort service advertising.

A blind trust in the name of Ann Romney, wife of Republican U.S.
presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, was an investor in a fund run by
Goldman Sachs Group Inc that had invested in a media company which
critics say facilitates sex trafficking. While there is no suggestion
the Romney's knew about the investment, the disclosure highlights the

A cold case is heating
up. Iowa paperboy Johnny Gosch vanished without a trace in 1982. But, now,
after KWWL's story last month on Johnny's disappearance, there is new
information on the case.
A private investigator
working Johnny's disappearance believe his kidnapping was part of a
government conspiracy. The investigator shared new evidence with KWWL and it
could be the break needed to solve this case. That evidence includes a
recorded phone call that has never been heard publicly, until now.
During the early
morning of September 5, 1982, Johnny Gosch was kidnapped from a West Des
Moines neighborhood while delivering newspapers. It was silent, quick and
professional. "This man has told us that at the end of their investigation
that there were 834 kids involved that were kidnapped," says James
Rothstein. He's talking about a former CIA agent who must remain anonymous.
Rothstein is a former
New York City police detective, now a private investigator working the case
for Johnny's mother, Noreen. And within the last couple weeks, Rothstein has
uncovered new evidence linking Johnny's kidnapping to child prostitution.
"It basically came down to one thing and one thing only. You know, it was
money. These kids were being grabbed to satisfy the malignant, twisted, you
know, evil depravity of very powerful individuals who have the money," he
says.
Rothstein is talking
about individuals who would spend as much as $10,000 to have sex with young
boys and girls. And this new evidence points to the involvement of U.S.
government officials. "They were using kids to compromise people. And what
better way to compromise somebody than get a young boy with a politician or
some powerful person that may be in the military or whatever and then you
can compromise them and get what ever you want."
Last month, people on
the internet and investigators like Rothstein began to believe a man who
passed himself off as a White House reporter and known male prostitute Jeff
Gannon could be Johnny Gosch. And while Gannon's true idenity still can't be
confirmed, Rothstein says the more clues he uncovers, the possibility Gannon
may be Gosch increases, "When you look into the whole abduction of Johnny,
what happened, the cover-up that took place, the way the kidnapping was
done, this was a professional job and it fits the profile that I have seen
over the years as a professional investigator."
Rothstein now believes
the CIA was involved and tried cover it up. "They were assigned to find out
if there was an agency connection to it and I am quite sure that if they
found one, to make sure it was covered," he says.
And Rothstein's CIA
informant says this: "We were specifically ordered to clear our name. This
would make the American agency look pretty s****y, like we're all a bunch of
f***ing child molesters."
We requested
information from the CIA on three kidnappings, Rothstein and his CIA
informant believes to be connected. The first, Johnny Gosch, the second,
Eugene Martin, kidnapped on August 12th, 1984 while delivering newspapers in
Des Moines.
And, Jacob Wetterling,
who was kidnapped from his Minnesota neighborhood on October 22, 1989. The
CIA responded to our request with this letter, denying the agency
investigated any of the kidnapping cases. But, Rothstein's source says, it
happened often and for big bucks, "You could order one of these kids, it was
$2,500 to $3,000 up front then you had the balance of another $3,000 to
$3,500 or $4,000 upon completion. In some cases, you know depending on the
circumstances you can probably get them at the bargain basement price of
$1,500, but most I think that we ever saw was for the bondage and the freaky
s**t and that was an even $10,000 and people... these people would hand that
money out like it was candy."
That's what it cost to
hire a kidnapper to steal a child like Johnny off the street. And with new
details like this coming to light, catching Johnny's kidnappers might
actually happen. "Any police agency that would get involved in this case to
this date can solve that case. The case is more solvable now, than it has
even been. And that case should have been solved hours after it happened.
The witnesses are out there. You yourself have found some," Rothstein says.
Those witnesses
include a Black Hawk County woman who wishes to remain anonymous. She sent
Rothstein this packet of information. "Johnny Gosch is mentioned in it
involving something that was going on years ago in the Waterloo, Iowa area,"
Rothstein says.
And while Rothstein
hasn't determined the significance of the possible Waterloo connection, he
says it's just as important as the phone conversation he had with a CIA
agent. "That's solid information with names. That's where you start
investigating and that should have been done years ago," he says.
And because it wasn't,
Rothstein continues to make phone calls, and work leads, hoping his next big
break is the one that solves the mystery behind the disappearance of Johnny
Gosch.
For the past month,
Rothstein has been tracking the activities of two suspects he believes could
be responsible for kidnapping Johnny Gosch. We couldn't name them in our
report because it hurt the investigation. We agreed to keep their identities
secret so we could tell you this story.

familiar with Hollywood movies, then you know that one of the prevalent
themes in movies is child molesting. Take for example, Forest Gump.
In the film, Forest's girlfriend was sexually molested by her father as a
little girl, so to help her heal emotionally, Forest has the old house torn
to the ground. Actor/now Producer, Clint Eastwood, has an infatuation was
child molesting. Such themes are included in at least three of his movies;
namely, Mystic River, The Hereafter and Trouble With The Curve.
In Mystic River, a Catholic Priest and pervert accomplice rape a
little boy for four days in a dark basement. Another film featuring the
theme of child molesting is Unbreakable with Samuel Jackson. In
Ridley Scott's Alien sequel, Prometheus, one of the lead
female actors is seen in a creepy scene sensually caressing her elderly

WORKMEN have dug up
the remains of ten bodies hidden beneath the former London home of Benjamin
Franklin, the founding father of American independence.
The remains of four
adults and six children were discovered during the £1.9 million restoration
of Franklin's home at 36 Craven Street, close to Trafalgar Square.
Researchers believe that there could be more bodies buried beneath the
basement kitchens.
Initial estimates are
that the bones are about 200 years old and were buried at the time Franklin
was living in the house, which was his home from 1757 to 1762, and from 1764
to 1775. Most of the bones show signs of having been dissected, sawn or cut.
One skull has been drilled with several holes. Paul Knapman, the Westminster
Coroner, said yesterday: "I cannot totally discount the possibility of a
crime. There is still a possibility that I may have to hold an inquest."
The principal suspect
in the mystery is William Hewson, like Franklin a Fellow of the Royal
Society, and the husband of Polly Stevenson, the daughter of Franklin's
landlady, Mary Stevenson.
In the early 1770s Dr
Hewson was in partnership with William Hunter, who, with his brother John,
was one of the founders of British surgery. Dr Hunter and Dr Hewson ran a
school of anatomy in Soho, but after an argument Dr Hewson left to live in
Franklin's house, where he is believed to have established a rival school
and lecture theatre. Dr Knapman added yesterday: "It is most likely that
these are anatomical specimens that Dr Hewson disposed of in his own house,
but we are still not certain about the bones' exact age or origin."
Evangeline
Hunter-Jones, deputy chairman of the Friends of Benjamin Franklin House, the
charity concerned with restoring the property and opening it to the public,
said: "The bones were quite deeply buried, probably to hide them because
grave robbing was illegal. There could be more buried, and there probably
are."
Brian Owen Smith has
volunteered to lead researches on behalf of the friends. He said yesterday:
"The discovery represents an important insight into very exciting years of
medical history. Benjamin Franklin, through his support for Polly and Dr
Hewson, socially and scientifically, was very much part of that."
To the suggestion that
Franklin might have been a grave robber, or an accomplice to Dr Hewson,
Hilaire Dubourcq, of the Friends of Benjamin Franklin House, responded: "It
is possible that he has an alibi. It seems likely that he actually let Dr
Hewson have use of the whole house for his school for a time, and went up
the street to live with Mary Stevenson. He did not necessarily know what was
happening below stairs in the house during his absence."
Dr Hewson fell victim
to his own researches at an early age. He accidentally cut himself while
dissecting a putrid body, contracted septicemia and died in 1774, aged 34.
Franklin, who wrote
the opening words to the Declaration of Independence, continued to support
the widowed Polly, and when he returned to Philadelphia he invited her there
to live as his neighbour. Both her sons became eminent medical men, as have
successive generations of Hewsons in America.
If the first Dr Hewson
did obtain bodies for his experiments and demonstrations by robbing local
graveyards, he risked the death penalty or deportation. He might have had
the help of his students in secretly burying the remains beneath the
four-story house, where the dissections may have been performed.
It is hoped to reopen
the house to the public at the end of the year. Regular visitors during
Franklin's residency included Pitt the Elder (the Earl of Chatham), Edmund
Burke, James Boswell, Adam Smith and Thomas Paine, the author of The Rights
of

With its embracing of former male
prostitute and gay porn star turned Marine Corporal, Matt Sanchez, the
Neocon media has, willingly or unwillingly, caused a firestorm of attention
focused upon nothing more than a perverted sideshow.
For his supposed courage in the
face of liberal cruelty, Cpl. Sanchez was presented with the Jeanne
Kirpatrick Academic Freedom Award at this year's Conservative Political
Action Conference (CPAC).
Sanchez is as a military recruiter
at Columbia University in New York. And wrote a piece in which he decried
being called a "baby killer" by members of Columbia University's
International Socialist Organization.
The Huffington Post reported that several gay blogs revealed late
yesterday, Corporal Sanchez was known during his halcyon days as Rod Majors,
a majorly well-endowed gay porn star. According to Tom Bacchus, Sanchez was
also a $200-an-hour male prostitute who advertised himself as an "excellent
top."

News Hounds has today put it:

but Cpl. Matt Sanchez who appeared on Hannity & Colmes to talk about an

On June 29 1989, the Washington
Times' Paul M. Rodriguez and George Archibald reported on a Washington D.C.

Connections between male
prostitutes and the White House emerged again in early 2005, when James Dale

from Chile to Australia, to Bosnia, to Portugal, to Belgium, court
proceedings get shut down or diverted when a clear connection to the elite

In the mid 1990's, convicted child
rapist Marc Dutroux built a secret prison cell in his Charleroi basement
where he kept abducted young girls hostage at the behest of what he called
"a big crime ring," which in the 2004 court case was thought by many to
encompass some of Belgium's top politicians, judges and policemen.
The reason why it took so long to apprehend Dutroux was that he was being
legally protected by these same individuals.
Material witnesses at the trial
described "child sex parties involving judges, politicians,
bankers and members of the royal family." Victims that managed to survive
(most were butchered snuff style after being raped) verified the claims.
Police actually visited Dutroux's
home and heard the cries of help from children concealed in his basement yet
believed Dutroux's explanation that the sounds were coming from kids playing
in the street.
Dutroux was eventually convicted
for his role in the pedophile ring but the involvement of the elite of the
country was never properly investigated.
After Dyncorp and Halliburton contractors were
exposed as having
operated child prostitution rackets in the Balkans from
the late 1990's onwards (and more recently in the case of Halliburton), Rep.
Cynthia McKinney attempted to get answers as to why the U.S. government
continued to do business with these corporations.
On March 11th 2005, McKinney grilled Secretary
Rumsfeld and General Myers on the DynCorp

In late 2005, Halliburton subsidiary KBR and
Dyncorp lobbyists
worked in tandem with the Pentagon to stall legislation
that would specifically ban trafficking in humans for forced labor and
prostitution by U.S. contractors.

Mark Foley's e mails to young boys, which are without a doubt perverted,
creepy and fully worthy of further investigation, are given a hundred times
more press coverage than huge sex slavery scandals with ties to the elite
that resulted in the abduction, abuse, rape and murder of thousands of
children across the globe - many of which are still missing today.

The Etireno rocks gently against the quay; the
smallest ship in a small west African port. It chugs around the Gulf of
Guinea, carrying cassava and cars, boxes of soap and barrels of hooch, and
sometimes children.
About this time last week, the government of
Benin reported the Nigerian-registered ship missing at sea with 250 child
slaves on board. The children looked ill, according to port authorities in
Douala, Cameroon where the ship put in for refueling. The Etireno was a
notorious slave ship, the UN children's fund (Unicef) confirmed.
Its captain, a desperate man with a criminal
past, might throw the children overboard. And Benin, everyone noted, was
where the African slave trade began. At midnight on Tuesday, the 40-metre
ship was sighted off Cotonou, Benin's capital, and a crowd of ministers,
diplomats and UN officials hastily summoned.
An hour later, the diplomats were off home to
bed. There were no chains or shackles aboard the Etireno and few children,
all of them apparently accompanied by their parents. Someone had made a big
mistake, said Lawrence Onome, the ship's Nigerian captain. The Etireno had
been turned back from the Gabonese capital of Libreville because its 114
adult passengers had no papers to enter the region's richest country. The
ship was carrying illegal migrants, not unaccompanied children, he said.
Etireno, coincidentally, means "end of story".
But it was not quite finished. Unicef took 31
children off the ship to be interviewed. Five days later, they are still in
transit centres for distressed children. The adults first thought to be
their parents had disappeared and just one child has been claimed. It seems
the Etireno was carrying child slaves after all.
"These were unaccompanied children," Esther
Guluma, an Israeli who is Unicef's representative in Benin, said yesterday.
"Sorry - they are very highly suspected unaccompanied children," she added,
conscious of having jumped the gun once already this week.
The truth about the Etireno may be less
dramatic than first suggested, but far more typical of west and central
Africa's exploding trade in children - and far more insidious for that.
Benin's child protection police have been
called in to confirm that the children were being trafficked from their
village homes to slavery in oil-rich Gabon. Until they do, Terre des Hommes,
a Swiss organisation caring for the 24 youngest, is guarding them jealously.
But the evidence is already persuasive.
The children at Terre des Hommes are aged
between four and 14. They include two four-year old boys from Mali, six
children from Togo and 16 from Benin, according to Ms Guluma. These
countries are the three biggest providers of the 200,000 children that
Unicef estimates are trafficked across the region's borders each year. Gabon
and Ivory Coast are the biggest receivers.
Emilie Kpadanou, a child psychologist,
interviewed the children. "The older children said they were going to work.
The little ones didn't know where they were going," she said. "They all want
to go home to their mothers."
It is not unusual for ships to traffic children
across the Gulf of Guinea. Over the past 10 years, as a result of poverty
and as an abuse of Africa's extended family tradition, whereby poor children
are placed with wealthier family friends, child slavery has become endemic.
It is rare for a slave ship to be turned away.
Morris Landlord, 36, the Etireno's
second-in-command, was the only man on board the ship yesterday: Mr. Onome
and seven of the 12 Nigerian crew members were being interviewed by police.
The 40-metre ship's cargo, mainly a palm-gin called ogogoro, was still on
board; the small galley smelled faintly of the 142 bodies that crowded it
for more than two weeks. Mr. Landlord said there had been no unaccompanied
children on board. Otherwise, his version of what happened in Libreville is
close to Ms Kpadanou's.
On April 4, two days after the ship docked, the
passengers disembarked. But when Gabonese police saw most had no papers,
they very aggressively ordered everyone back, he said.
Ms Kpadanou said policemen threw some children
off the quay into the water, forcing adult passengers to dive in after them.
The Etireno was put to sea without refuelling or taking on water, and with a
police gunboat on either side, Mr. Landlord said. He says he does not know
why the police reacted so violently.
Ms Kpadanou thinks it was because the ship was
trying to unload too many children, risking a scandal. "Four or five, they
can get away with," she said. More than 40, including 10 youths, was too
many.
On April 8, the ship docked at Douala,
Cameroon, for refuelling. During its five-day voyage from there to Cotonou -
the passengers sharing a tin of sardines and a loaf of bread a day among six
- the Beninois rumour mill inflated the number of children. As they neared
Cotonou, the crew listened to the BBC World Service in horror, said Mr
Landlord.
He says the Etireno will soon be back in
business - "there's no better ship for ferrying people in Africa". At 7am,
he was tucking into the ogogoro. "It's good for fever and nerves," he said.
He was expecting the police any minute.
Cotonou is the busiest port in Benin and Togo. A well-maintained highway,
courtesy of the World Bank, runs northwards, towards impoverished Mali and
Burkina Faso. The unusual combination of a good infrastructure linking
desperately poor rural areas is the dynamic that makes Benin a trafficker's
paradise.
Isaac, 10, was brought to Terre des Hommes a
week ago, after being stopped at the Ghanaian border. A friend of his father
said he could get Isaac a job making cooking pots in Ivory Coast. So Isaac
left his village in Benin's southern Za-Kpota region at night in a car
packed with five other children, including his elder sister, and seven
adults.
One of his six brothers and most of his friends
had already left for Ivory Coast and he was happy to go too. "It was
normal," said Isaac, his head barely reaching above the back of his chair.
"In Ivory Coast you can learn a trade; if I'd stayed I'd have done nothing."
Isaac crossed into Togo without a hitch and was
met at the Ghanaian border by a woman who was to take him on to Ivory Coast,
before they were stopped by police. "They were fierce and asked a lot of
questions I couldn't understand," said Isaac, scratching at the eczema on
his arms. Isaac is not afraid his father will be angry to see him when he
goes home; but he still wants to learn to make pots.
According to Alfonso Gonzalez-Jaggli, Terre des
Homme's Togo and Benin delegate, Isaac's story is typical, down to his
insistence that his parents were paid nothing. "It's usually too hard for
them to think their fathers could put a price on them," he said.
Anti-slavery International estimates children
are bought in villages for as little as £10. Increasing sums then change
hands as they are passed along a chain of intermediaries, transporters and
border smugglers - such as the woman Isaac described. The children are
finally sold, typically to cocoa plantation owners in Ivory Coast or as
domestics in Gabon, for up to £300 a head.
The Pied Piper who leads the children away with
their parents' blessing - Isaac's father's friend - is the key to this
modern slavery. Often one of the child's own relatives, he is commissioned
to take full advantage of the extended family, and of the poor man's
assumption that anywhere is better than here.
"Once people were taken from here in chains.
The tragedy now is that they go willingly looking for a better future - they
all learn the truth eventually," said Mr Gonzalez-Jaggli, whose office is
decorated with photographs documenting malnourished children, scarred by
flogging.
"Slavery is the scourge of west and central
Africa, and it could spread," said Rima Sala, Unicef regional director in
the Ivory Coast capital, Abidjan.
"For Africa, with its history, it is the final
humiliation."

WASHINGTON,
Jan. 5 (UPI) -- A U.S. senator says the Pentagon should have paid more
attention to employees downloading child pornography on their work and home
computers.
Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, told The Boston Globe he was informed that
Pentagon investigators failed to check all the names on a list of 5,200
employees suspected of viewing child pornography.
He said 1,700 names on the list were not reviewed, the Globe reported
Wednesday.
"These cases were not considered a priority by the Defense Department in the
first place, and they should have been," Grassley said.
They stem from an expansive investigation by Immigration and Customs
Enforcement known as Project Flicker.
Downloading child pornography is a federal crime punishable by prison
sentences of five to 20 years.
Members of Congress and other officials say employees with high-level
security classifications are vulnerable to blackmail if they access such
materials.
The Defense Department's inspector general has told Grassley the department
is working to correct problems with the investigation.
