What About Pastor Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church?
Fred Waldron Phelps, Sr. (born November 13, 1929) is the pastor and leader of the Westboro Baptist Church (WBC), an independent Baptist church in Topeka, Kansas. Phelps is also a lawyer and founder of the Phelps Chartered law firm. WBC is listed as a "hate group" by the Southern Poverty Law Center. He is known for preaching with slogans and banners denoting phrases such as "God hates fags," "AIDS cures fags," and "Fags die, God laughs (or mocks)," and claims that God will punish homosexuals as well as people such as Bill O'Reilly, Coretta Scott King, and Howard Dean, whom his church considers "fag-enablers". His church says he is a "Five-Point Calvinist". —SOURCE
Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church are a government front organization in my opinion. If not, they are just plain cruel and mean. They are of the Devil. NOBODY thanks God for dead 9-year old girls like Fred Phelps and his demonic cult of followers do. In January of 2011, an Arizona man killed a 9-year old girl with a gun, and a Constitution upholding judge, and also shot congresswoman in the head. These are sad and tragic events and my sympathies go out to the family members. Shame on Fred Phelps and his followers!
By “government” I mean a small group of criminals who have hijacked the federal government. President John F. Kennedy warned Americans of a White House coup 10 days before he was assassinated.
I suspected Fred Phelps of being a government plant ever since the day they first went public with their hateful signs. Before the little girl's funeral, the State of Arizona enacted a law banning protests within 300-feet of a funeral, because they heard Fred Phelps was going to protest at the little girl's funeral with hateful signs thanking the shooter. NO ONE does crazy stuff like that! Even the most staunch Calvinist wouldn't do what Mr. Phelps is doing. It couldn't be more obvious that Phelps is being used to outlaw free speech. Then Phelps called off the protest after the law was passed. Of course, that was the entire goal to begin with. That's what these people do... tell everyone that they're coming to town with their hate speech signs, and then laws are quickly passed outlawing free-speech within 1500 feet of the event. I guarantee you that such laws will be quietly expanded over time to a mile, then 5-miles, then the city limits, and then the entire country.
This is how the diabolic and treasonous 1913 Federal Reserve Act was railroaded through congress. The bankers introduced a bill that they didn't like, but knew congress would likely pass; fully knowing and intending that they'd come back at a later time and change the parts which they didn't like. Their goal was to get the bill passed, just to get their foot in the door so-to-speak. That's what they did, and they've changed it hundreds of times since into the monstrosity it is today, wickedly stealing, destroying, and ravishing American citizens financially of their wealth. Hell will be hot. God will take out His vengeance upon these criminals day-and-night for ever and ever in the flames of torments of Hell (2nd Thessalonians 1:8-9; Revelation 20:11-15; 21:8; Romans 12:19; Matthew 12:36).
This is what is happening today with Fred Phelps. Everyplace Fred Phelps goes, the First Amendment is being taken away. This is how tyrants take away our freedoms. They milk every incident that happens to ban free speech. I guarantee you that the law passed in Arizona will be expanded over time to ban free speech completely. The murderous forced abortion policy in China began as a seemingly innocent tax on parents. Fred Phelps and his hatemongering group are being used to get a foot in the door to ban free speech and attack the First Amendment. No pastor in America, Calvinist or not, would express such hatred as Fred Phelps. He has nothing but absolute hatred for sinners, but he is a sinner as much as the vilest homosexual, and so are you, and myself as well (James 2:10). All men are sinners (Ecclesiastes 7:20; Romans 3:23).
God hates homosexuality; but that's not what their signs say. Their signs unbiblical read "God hates fags." Nothing could be further from the truth. God loves humanity so much that He sent His only begotten Son into the world to pay for our sins (John 3:16).
It is wrong for any believer to become so self-righteous that they become hateful towards unrepentant sinners (such as Pastor Fred Phelps at www.Godhatesfags.com). This is wrong. God hates sin; BUT, never the sinner. John 3:16 plainly states, “For God so loved THE WORLD...” How could God hate any man or woman whom He died upon the cross for? 1st John 2:2 plainly declares that Christ shed His blood for all mankind. Romans 5:8 declares that Christ died for us, “while we were yet sinners.” On the other hand, it is equally wrong for a believer to compromise moral and doctrinal standards under the pretense of “love.”
True Biblical love NEVER allows for sinful compromise. I often receive letters from Homosexuals and witches, telling me that Jesus taught us to LOVE one another. How ironic that Christ-rejecting witches and Sodomites would quote God's Word; then again, that's exactly what Satan did to Eve in Genesis 3:1, and to Jesus in Matthew 4:6. So it is not surprising that witches and Sodomites, who reject the Bible, would quote the Bible like their father the Devil.
Having said that, I want to say that
Fred Phelps comes closer to being
right than MOST pastors in America who are cowards and never preach against
sin at all. Would to
God that more pastors CARED about the deplorable spiritual condition of the
United States. The average American today has waxed sinfully proud,
spoiled, and indifferent concerning evil. You can't tell most
Americans the truth nowadays, because they either flare up in hostility and
rage or else couldn't care less. Many Americans have become intolerant and
hostile towards the truth. A recently released Walt Disney
movie, UNDER DOG, features the motto... “One
nation under dog!” BLASPHEMY!!!
I totally disagree with all 5 points of Calvinism to which Fred Phelps adheres. I am reluctant to call Phelps a "pastor," because he is such a hateful person. No one hates sin as much as God, but God doesn't hate people. Likewise, no one loves people as much as God. God could just cast every homosexual into Hell immediately, which is clearly what Fred Phelps would do if he had his way. That's not Biblical Christianity!
Calvinism is heresy. It is somewhat understandable why Pastor Phelps hates sinners when you understand the tenets of John Calvin, a heretic. Yet, I cannot help but seriously question Phelps' sincerity. There a group of freakazoids. Albeit, Calvinists believe that God chooses who will, or won't, go to Heaven, and that God only loves those chosen to be saved. Of course this it very unbiblical. If you'd like to know much more, please read Not Chosen to Salvation which diligently exposes the heresies of Calvinism. Fred Phelps is further proof of what is wrong with Calvinism.
Having said that, I want to reiterate what I said a moment ago... Fred Phelps comes closer to being right than MOST apostate pastors in America today who are silent concerning the evils destroying our nation. I'm not saying Pastor Phelps is correct in his approach, he's not. Phelps is wrong, wrong, wrong! Fred Phelps doesn't even speak of God's love on his churches' website. I don't understand any professed believer who hates the sinner, a person for whom Christ died (Romans 5:8).
Phelps comes closer to being right than the following sorry excuse for a pastor... A U.S. News and World Report article (December 2003, The New Old-Time Religion, by Jay Tolson, pg. 42) quotes Lon Solomon, pastor of the McLean Bible Church near Tyson's Corner, Virginia (a megachurch that draws up to 10,000 people on Sundays) as stating...
"Abortion and homosexuality are minor concerns in our church. The bell we beat is that we must know Jesus. We are offering people a different and better way to live than secular America offers."
Jonathan Edwards is appalled from Heaven! Abortion and homosexuality ... MINOR CONCERNS? What? Where in the Word of God are we ever led to view sin as a “minor issue?” I just don't understand how any professed "man of God,” a pastor over 10,000 people, can call the murdering of over 50,000,000 babies (in the U.S. alone) ... a MINOR CONCERN! Americans have murdered more children through abortions than all of America's war dead combined!!! And yet we praise ourselves as being a nation that “values life.” What liars!
We are a
bunch of hypocrites in America! Why is it that no one gets enraged when
homosexuals are marching up and down the streets of America with their
despicable signs? Ever heard of the “Pink
Angels?” They're a group of homosexuals that attack Christians at
homosexual parades. Why just get mad at Fred Phelps?
Why is it that no one gets upset when the pro-abortionists are standing on the street corner holding up their murderous signs praising abortion? People can streak naked in public, and no one cares or complains. Don't believe it? Welcome to Brattleboro, Vermont, where streaking is legal and a daily occurrence in down town. Is this America? Yes!
What are you doing to take a stand against the evils in our nation? Lord give us more Billy Sundays! Again, I'm not endorsing Fred Phelps' ministry, but he's closer to Biblical Christianity than the millions of compromised, thin skinned, cowardly, lazy, entertainment type lukewarm believers today in America. God said He would vomit lukewarm Christians out of His mouth (Revelation 3:16-17).
God deliver us from cafeteria Christians! God deliver us from church-pew Christianity! Jesus said in Luke 9:23, "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me." Most believers today have no idea what Jesus is talking about, because they've never suffered any persecution as a Christian. 2nd Timothy 3:12 warns, "Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution." Is anyone getting upset with you? Today's believers have redefined Christianity to fit this wicked world.
This is why America's pulpits are eerily silent concerning the great American holocaust—abortion! Few churches today are willing to preach publicly against the sin of homosexuality. Why? Fred Phelps is taking a stand in the wrong way; but at least he's taking a stand. As hateful and wrong as Phelps is, you cannot criticize him if you're doing NOTHING for God. One thing is clear... Pastor Phelps preaches the Biblical truth that homosexuality is a vile sin, and that America is overdue for God judgment. I agree 100% with that. However, when Phelps thanked God for the shooter of a little girl, that's just going way to far. That is demonic. America certainly deserves what we get as a nation for our sins, but two wrongs don't make a right. Preaching against sin is one thing; but thanking God for dead children and dead workers is very wrong.

Many of the people criticizing Mr. Phelps are hypocrites. Sean Hannity of FoxNew, who is adored by many fundamental Christians today, has spoke many flaming words of criticism against Fred Phelps and his church members (and rightfully so); however, Mr. Hannity is a devout hellbound Catholic. Many Christians have been totally brainwashed by the so-called "conservative newsmedia" which is composed of unsaved Catholics, heathen liberals and modernists in sheep's clothing.
Truthfully, conservatives today are as heathen and Godless as the leftist liberals. Sean Hannity is as lost and on his way to Hell as is Alan Colmes (who in his book Red, White, and Liberal, has a chapter called... “Jesus was a liberal.” Sean Hannity has a dating website which welcomes homosexuals. Who's kidding who? Hannity and Colmes are both unsaved heathens. It's time for America's Christians to wake up and return to the God of the Bible. Pastor Phelps comes closer to being right than all the golf-club ministers across America who never take a stand against anything. Yet, Phelps is a disgrace to the name of Christ for spewing unbiblical hatred of sinners. The Bible says that Christ died for the "ungodly" (Romans 4:5). And a good thing or else no one could go to Heaven, for all have sinned (Romans 3:10,19-23).
