Preachers And Lies

By David J. Stewart | June 2018

Ephesians 4:15, But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.”

I have a great book in front of me authored by Dr. John R. Rice (1895-1980) from 1944 called, “THE RUIN OF A CHRISTIAN.” In the book, on pages 113 and 119 Dr. Rice states:

“LYING AND DECEIT are one of the marks of the close of this age. Second Timothy 3:13 declares that 'evil men and seducers shall wax worse, DECEIVING AND BEING DECEIVED.' We are told that 'FALSE prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many' (Matt. 24:11), and I Timothy 4:1, 2 says, 'Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron.' Being seduced by evil spirits and speaking lies in hypocrisy is one of the marks of 'the latter times.' and 'false accusers' will be many and strong in the perilous times of 'the last days' (II Tim. 3: 1, 3).

In these days we may expect 'false teachers' who shall come in 'privily,' that is, secretly, deceitfully, with damnable heresies denying the Lord, and the language of these preachers and teachers will be 'feigned words' (II Pet. 2:1-3).

Lying and deceit are becoming most prevalent sins, as Satan, the god of this world, more and more makes himself felt. When the Man of Sin appears, the Antichrist, he will come 'with all deceivableness of unrighteousness' (II Thess. 2:10) and with 'lying wonders' (II Thess. 2:9), and if it were possible he would deceive the very elect (Matt. 24:24).

Christian people are so swept off their feet by the worldliness around them that we need especially to beware of the sin of lying.

All Lying Is of the Devil

Many people believe a lie is a very small matter, but they do not realize that it is one distinctive qualification of the Devil. Jesus said in John 8:44,

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.'

Satan is himself a liar. There is no truth in him. When Satan first spoke to man in the Garden of Eden, he spoke with a lie, and from that time on, he has brought men to sin, misery, shame and eternal damnation by teaching them lies. he will continue to do so until the millennial reign of Christ, after which he will be allowed to go out and deceive the nations for the last time (Rev. 20:8, 9). Satan is back of every lie that was ever told. He is the father of lying. Every man and woman and child who lies, follows the Devil in it, pleases the Devil, is led by the Devil in this respect. Lying, then, is a fearful business. Satan is the great deceiver and the men who are the most accomplished liars are the closer to Satan.

...Anybody who talks as much as a preacher does, is in deadly danger of lying. Preachers are human, and they must watch themselves lest the carnal nature that is in all of us, that evil deceitful nature, lead them to lie. Every preacher knows the temptation to exaggerate, to color falsely, to boost overmuch, to tell only one side of what happened. Preacher very properly long to be loved and respected, and are tempted to lie to make a good impression. How easy it is for a preacher to miss the truth! The preacher must illustrate his message from a thousands sources. How can his memory always be accurate? And would the message not be more impressive if the incident were repeated as if it happened to the preacher himself? You who are not preachers do not know the terrible pressure Satan brings upon every speaker to exaggerate or to tell only part of the truth, or to intimate more than is true or less than is true.”

One of the obvious lies being propagated today is the heresy of turning from sins to be saved, and also Lordship Salvation. These are two separate false doctrines, usually connected, but not always. I have actually heard preachers refute the heresy of Lordship Salvation, but then immediately thereafter teach the false doctrine of turning from sinful ways to be saved.

In th!

NOBODY IS LAUGHING IN HELL!!!

Did you know that you don't have to ask Jesus to save you? God has already told you how to be saved, that is, by simply believing that His Son died on the cross for your sins, was buried, and raised up from the dead three days later. Christ raised up from the dead, which means that God the Father accepted His Son's payment for the sins of the world. Christ suffered on the cross so that we wouldn't have to suffer in a literal Hell forever. Amen! You don't have to bow your head to be saved. You don't have to pray. You don't have to do anything except believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins, and make that your hope for Heaven!

Nothing Can Replace The Holy Bible!

Give Me Jesus!
(video sermon by Pastor Danny Castle - You don't want to keep your eye on others, because they'll let you down. They'll hurt you.
And you don't want to keep your eyes on yourself, because you'll feel inadequate, like a loser and a failure. Keep your eyes on Jesus!)

Salvation is not doing your best, it is having Christ's best put to your account through receiving Him by faith.

God will not save anyone who is trying to be saved, He will only save those who are trusting to be saved.

Religion is man trying to reach God through human effort, but Christianity is
God trying to reach man by the sacrifice of His only begotten Son on the cross.

“You can sit there and say, 'Oh, well, you just took it too far. You just took King James onlyism too far!' Well, you know what brother, you can't take it far enough, when they're pushing all these false versions, and all the bookstores, and the Christian bookstores, and all of your big name preachers are all preaching false versions! You know, we need to stand our ground on this issue!!!” —a quote by Pastor Steven Anderson from the awesome MP3 sermon, “Saved By The Word.”

“Only the Word of God can make you a man of God!”

“Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can.
At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can.”

Redeeming The Time

“Nothing in my future can ever affect the salvation that I have... Once you trust the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, you are eternally secure!” —Pastor Hank Lindstrom (1940-2008), a quote from the classic MP3 sermon titled, “How Permanent Is Your Salvation?

“Salvation is based upon purely what Jesus Christ has done. And if you've trusted Jesus Christ here, you're saved forever! Nothing in your life, nothing in your death, angels, principalities, nothing—nothing in your future—could ever undo that relationship that has been made when you trusted Jesus Christ as Savior. And there are many people who are confused over this whole thing.”
—Pastor Hank Lindstrom (1940-2008), a quote from the classic MP3 sermon titled, “How Permanent Is Your Salvation?”

“There are many people who name the name of Jesus Christ, who are not saved, because they're trusting in living the Christian life, or in their works, or in some efforts that they're doing, in order to obtain their salvation.”
—Pastor Hank Lindstrom (1940-2008), a quote from the classic MP3 sermon titled, “How Permanent Is Your Salvation?
