Something We Won't Be Able To Do In Heaven

...SOULWINNING!

by David J. Stewart

Daniel 12:3, “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.”

No Soulwinning in Heaven

The moment we die and leave this earthly body—it's over! We will never have another opportunity to witness to lost sinners with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This thought alone should greatly convict and inspire believers everywhere to get busy for God soulwinning.

Our time is so short upon the earth—we read in James 4:14, "Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away." Now that I'm older, I realize that my time on earth is very short.

I've dedicated the remaining years of my life to soulwinning, contending for the Biblical faith, taking an uncompromising stand against sin and inspiring other believers to do the same. I ask you to search your heart, and allow God's Holy Spirit to speak to you--for the fields are ripe unto harvest. “Then saith He unto His disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few.” (Matthew 9:37). Won't you volunteer as a laborer for God, to work in His vineyard winning souls to Jesus?

Life is So Short

Steve Irwin had no idea that he would be dead at age 44; but it happened. Perhaps you say, “It was a freak accident.” I agree that it was out of the ordinary for a stingray's barb to pierce Irwin's heart; but if you stop to think about all of the potential freak accidents that can occur... we are all living quite dangerously.

When I lived in Chicago years ago, I remember reading in the Chicago Sun-Times about a woman who was just walking downtown with her 10-year old daughter. Little did that mother know that a plate-glass window above had worked itself loose in a skyscraper. The unsuspecting mother was sliced into two. The little girl was fine; but her mother died that day without warning. Each and every one of us has an APPOINTED time to die, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27).

Most people today are saturated with covetousness, selfish pride and living for the things of this world. We should keep 1st Timothy 6:7 in mind at all times... “For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.” That's why Jesus told us to lay up treasures in Heaven (Matthew 6:20). There is nothing worth living for in this sinful world. It is the hope of Heaven that makes life worth living.

It Will Also Be Too Late to Get Saved

The moment we die and leave this earthly body—it's over! There are NO second chances after the grave, as the demonic Jehovah's Witnesses teach. All that will matter when you die is two things:

  1. Are you a born again Christian? (John 3:3)

  2. What did you do for Jesus with your life? (Matthew 25:40,45)

When you leave this world—It won't matter how big your boat was ... or how expensive your car was ... or how attractive your wife was ... or how much money you had in the bank, etc. It won't matter how much money you gave to charity ... or how religious you were ... or how well others spoke of you ... or how much you prayed, etc. If you die in your sins, you WILL tragically burn in Hell forever! All that will matter is whether or not you died IN THE LORD, or IN YOUR SINS.

We read in Revelation 14:13, “Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.” In sharp contrast, Jesus stated in John 8:24, “I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am He, ye shall die in your sins.” The only way to die in the Lord is to believe on Jesus, the Christ, the Son of God, who gave His precious blood to pay our sin debt. We need HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS (Matthew 6:33). Our own self-righteousness is filth to God (Isaiah 64:6). Our faith in Jesus Christ is COUNTED FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS (Romans 4:5-6). Amen!

For the Christian, all of the pleasures and wealth this sinful world has to offer won't mean a thing in Heaven. There will be MANY miserable Christians in Heaven, realizing that they did nothing throughout their life to win lost souls to Christ.  Those who divorce their spouse will receive nothing from God in Heaven for quitting, lying and betraying their marriage vows. Divorce is a horrible evil.

God will reward the believer for each and every Gospel tract distributed, for each person witnessed to, and for our labors in the Lord. 1st Corinthians 15:58 so wonderfully proclaims... “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” Nothing we do for the Lord will be unrewarded. Of course, all the rewards in the universe won't mean anything if we've never won anyone to the Lord. Hence, SOULWINNING is the activity which we should be focusing on day and night. Please read, Rewards Won't Make You Happy

Beautiful Feet or Spiritual Gout?

Romans 10:15, “How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!”

The Word of God specifically mentions our feet. I find that interesting. You'd think that God would have said, “How beautiful is the tongue, or the mouth”; but rather, He chose our feet. I believe the reason is simple. You see, many believers in this world have the Gospel of Christ, i.e., the good news of Christ's work of redemption; but they do nothing with it. The “feet” are the workers, the diligent believers, who actually share the Gospel message with others.

All across this world today professed “Christians” are sitting idle, choked by the cares, riches and pleasures of this world (Luke 8:14), and the true Gospel message is not preached. Instead, we hear the false gospel of Benny Hinn, the heretical gospel of the Jehovah's Witnesses, the damnable gospel of the Catholics, the perverted gospel of the Mormons, and so forth. The Biblical Gospel EXCLUDES all works, self-righteousness, and sacraments; but this truth is rarely explained to people.

Romans 4:5 proclaims, “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.” Most people who claim to believe upon Christ are FOOLISHLY trusting their church, sacraments, baptism, holy communion, good works, giving up bad works, the priest, etc. We have a responsibility to WARN lost sinners! Adding anything to faith alone in Jesus as the Son of God, the Christ, is a religious road to Hell.

The reason why God calls the soulwinner's feet “beautiful” is because most believers couldn't LESS about winning lost sinners to Jesus Christ. Mention the Word of God to the average believer and they'll break off the conversation. Many believers have the Gospel message in their mouth, but they have spiritual gout in their feet. What good is the “good news” if there's no one to preach it?, “...and how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?” We don't need any more beautiful mouths and tongues, we need Christians who are willing to be peculiar, and stand out amongst the crowd, as soulwinners. Proverb 14:25, “A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.”

It is a beautiful thing when a believer in Christ goes from learning to living. Many believers spend their whole lives accumulating knowledge, knowledge that sits dormant in their minds like a dormant volcano. What if Billy Sunday or D.L. Moody had practiced closet Christianity? The world would have suffered a great loss. It's time for believers to start coming out of their closets and become soulwinning Christians. Most people don't want to become a spectacle, or be labeled with a religious stereotype, but this is part of being a Christlike believer.

Titus 2:14 reads, “Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.” If you want to look, dress, and act like the carnal world, then carefully consider the solemn words of 2nd Corinthians 4:3, “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost.”

Please Become a Soulwinner for Jesus

Photo Right: A classic scene from Jack Chick's “This Was Your Life” Gospel Tract. Unfortunately, Jack Chick corrupts the simplicity that is in Christ, by requiring sinners to be willing to cease from a sinful lifestyle to be saved, which is self-righteousness.

For the sake of winning the lost to Christ, we need to take that initial step to become soulwinners. Nothing is difficult once you take those first initial steps. I recommend giving Gospels of John to people. There is a great need for more Christians to print Gospels of John and other Booklets of the Bible. The King James Bible is the only reliable English translation. All modern Bibles are corrupt, and thus teach corrupt doctrines, and therefore produce corrupt fruit (unsaved religious mutations).

Nearly all contemporary churches that use modern Bibles are doctrinally corrupt—teaching the Lordship Salvation heresy, denying a Biblical Pretribulation Rapture, denying the precious literal blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ, embracing worldly Christian Rock music, embracing the apostate Ecumenical Movement which calls for unity at the expense of truth. Ecumenism is of the Devil. Unequal yokes with unbelievers always lead to Apostasy.

The mark of maturity for any believer is a heart's desire to tell others about the Gospel of Jesus Christ (Proverb 11:30). If a Christian truly believes that there is a literal place called Hell (Psalm 9:17), a Lake that burns with fire and brimstone (Revelation 21:8), where all Christ-rejecters are punished with flaming fire by God forever (2nd Thessalonians 1:8-9), then it should grip our souls and cause us to be burdened over the lost (Romans 10:14), compelling us to warn them and tell them of the wonderful redeeming Savior (Luke 2:11; Acts 4:10-12; Acts 10:43; Romans 10:13).

Life is short and we must all stand before God (2nd Corinthians 5:10-11). The Bible teaches that those Christians who turn many to the righteousness of Jesus Christ for salvation will shine as the brightness of the stars, because all the people who were saved through our soul-winning efforts will love and thanks us in eternity. I don't know about you, but I want to win as many people to Jesus Christ as I can.

Please join me in my soul-winning efforts. There are so many ways to get the Gospel out to people. Here's one idea. Everyone has a unique opportunity to witness to a group of people that no one else can reach for Christ. What resources has God given to you? What power of influence do you have? What avenues of soul-winning are available to you? I knew a garbage man who wrote out Gospel Scriptures on 3" x 5" cards and gave them to people on his garbage route. He is a soul-winner (Romans 10:15).

He is wise (Proverb 11:30). In this selfish generation, soul-winners are rare; but God commands every believer to go soul-winning (2nd Corinthians 5:11). Only a fool would claim that soul-winning is only for ministers, when the power of the Gospel is in our hands, each and every one of us, to win lost souls to Christ. Romans 1:16 teaches that the Gospel is “the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth...” John 1:12, “But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.”

Philippians 2:15-16, “That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; HOLDING FORTH THE WORD OF LIFE; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.”
