Animal Cruelty is a Sin!
By David J. Stewart
"A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel." -Proverb 12:10
I have always loved animals... they're so tasty! Seriously, I love animals. Animals have a soul, which many people do not realize. Of course, animals do NOT have a spirit, which us humans DO have. The soul is composed of 3 elements: a MIND to think, a Heart to feel emotions, and a WILL to decide. Animals, just as humans, posses these characteristics. Animals can become sad, and depressed, if mistreated. Likewise, animals are happy and content when we respect them as creatures of God's divine handiwork and omnipotence. Animals do not have a sin-nature, as humans do. We have a moral compass, i.e., a conscience about sin, that animals do not have.
I don't like mean people and can't think of anything more cruel and heartless, than to deliberately hurt an animal. God gave us pets to love and comfort us. No one should ever hurt or be mean to an animal for sport or recreation. Such people are spiritual sick, and need to find the love of God.
PETA is Ridiculous on Animal Rights!
I am against PETA (People for the Ethical treatment of Animals) elevating animal rights to the status of human rights, to where they say we shouldn't even eat animals or use them for clothing...
"People who support animal rights believe that animals are not ours to use for food, clothing, entertainment, experimentation, or any other purpose and that animals deserve consideration of their best interests..."
Now that's crazy folks. The Word of God plainly states in Genesis 9:3... "Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things." It was God who killed the first animals to make "coats of skins" for Adam and Eve to wear... "Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them." Biblically, it is perfectly acceptable to kill animals for food and clothing. As to how they are killed, that is a different story altogether. I believe animals should be killed as painlessly and quickly as possible. If that means a crossbow or a hunting rifle, then so be it. Biblically, animals have no right to life if humans need them for food and clothing. Of course, I do believe that greedy poachers, who don't care if they wipe out an endangered species, should be arrested and brought to trial. We must respect what God has given to us.
Fairness to Animals and Humane Treatment
Proverb 12:10 states... "A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel." This Scripture refers specifically to animals which are made to perform work. It's ok to use animals to plow fields or perform work, but not in an abusive fashion. I was recently watching the History Channel, and they said that horses have been known to jump off cliffs, to commit suicide, if torturously worked to the point of misery. This is brutality, and such horse owners should be held liable for cruelty to animals. The Bible teaches FAIRNESS to animals in 1st Timothy 5:18... "For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward." If an animal performs work, it should be rewarded for his labor, and well treated. This is Biblical.
In Luke 12:6 we learn that animals are very important to God, and He keeps track of every one of them... "Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?" God sees every abused animal, and no tyrant will go unpunished.
I couldn't believe how cows are abused in the milk business. Please read, GOT PUS? Cows are injected with Monsanto's Bovine-Growth-Hormone (BGH), which causes the cows to produce 10 times their normal milk output, and PUS! To counter the near-emergency medical state of the cows, the animals are pumped full of antibiotics to kill all the pus. Yummy! This is animal abuse!
Fairness to Humans and Humane Treatment
Again, the Bible does not prohibit meat or clothing from animals. Animal right's activists have gone way overboard, even demanding that people be charged with first-degree murder for killing animals. Americans especially, have gone insane with animal care. It is not uncommon nowadays for wealthy people to leave their entire estate to the their pet. Pet massage parlor's are popping up all over America. While 18,000 children starve to death EVERY DAY, Americans continue to spoil their animals. This year, total pet-related sales in the United States are projected to be $31 billion. An estimated $5 billion worth of holiday season gifts were offered – not to the poor – but to the roving family pets.
Environmental laws and animal rights must NEVER come before human life and necessity. At the same time, we need to respect God's creation and be sensible in our consumption of the earth's resources. If we deforest a jungle, we should plant another one. If we raise milk cattle, we should do so appropriately. Biblically, God said that every living thing would reproduce "after his kind" (Genesis 1:11,12). For modern scientists to tamper with the DNA of living organisms, combing them, and producing mutant species is dangerous. Scientists have already produced spider-goats, silk moth potatoes, glow-in-the-dark pigs, cows with human organs, etc. Mankind cannot play God without consequences!
PETA Does Good to Expose Animal Abuse
I've included the following information below from PETA, because I think it's something that people need to be aware of; HOWEVER, I don't endorse PETA because of their unbiblical view of animal rights. The Bible allows us to KILL animals for human consumption and clothing. I DO however think that PETA is sincere in exposing the abuse of animals in the greedy livestock industry, and some of the things in this video are very disturbing. The average American eats 20-times more red meat than necessary, which explains the abnormally high rate of diabetes, heart-attacks, and other diet related health problems in the United States. I am not a vegetarian, nor do I believe that the Bible encourages anyone to be; HOWEVER, there is certainly nothing wrong with reducing the amount of red meat which we eat, or in becoming a vegetarian for better health. By the way, fresh farm raised meats are available from organic grocery stores, where the animals were raised in a healthy and natural environment. Of course, such meats cost considerably more. You decide.
Cruelty to Animals: Mechanized Madness
The green pastures and idyllic barnyard scenes of years past are now distant memories. On today's factory farms, animals are crammed by the thousands into filthy windowless sheds, wire cages, gestation crates, and other confinement systems. These animals will never raise their families, root in the soil, build nests, or do anything that is natural to them. They won't even feel the sun on their backs or breathe fresh air until the day they are loaded onto trucks bound for slaughter.
Animals on today's factory farms have no legal protection from cruelty that would be illegal if it were inflicted on dogs or cats: neglect, mutilation, genetic manipulation, and drug regimens that cause chronic pain and crippling, transport through all weather extremes, and gruesome and violent slaughter. Yet farmed animals are no less intelligent or capable of feeling pain than are the dogs and cats we cherish as companions.
The factory farming system of modern agriculture strives to maximize output while minimizing costs. Cows, calves, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, and other animals are kept in small cages, in jam-packed sheds, or on filthy feedlots, often with so little space that they can't even turn around or lie down comfortably. They are deprived of exercise so that all their bodies' energy goes toward producing flesh, eggs, or milk for human consumption. The giant corporations that run most factory farms have found that they can make more money by cramming animals into tiny spaces, even though many of the animals get sick and some die. Industry journal National Hog Farmer explains, "Crowding Pigs Pays," and egg-industry expert Bernard Rollins writes that "chickens are cheap; cages are expensive."

They are fed drugs to fatten them faster and to keep them alive in conditions that would otherwise kill them, and they are genetically altered to grow faster or to produce much more milk or eggs than they would naturally. Many animals become crippled under their own weight and die within inches of water and food.
While the suffering of all animals on factory farms is similar, each type of farmed animal faces different types of cruelty.Chickens killed for their flesh in the United States are bred and drugged to grow so quickly that their hearts, lungs, and limbs often can't keep up. Read more about chickens.
Hens used for eggs live six or seven to a battery cage the size of a file drawer, thousands of which are stacked tier upon tier in huge, filthy warehouses. Read more about laying hens. Cattle are castrated, their horns are ripped out of their heads, and third-degree burns (branding) are inflicted on them, all without any pain relief. Read more about cows raised for their flesh.

Fish on aquafarms spend their entire lives in cramped, filthy enclosures, and many suffer from parasitic infections, diseases, and debilitating injuries. Conditions on some farms are so horrendous that 40 percent of the fish may die before farmers can kill and package them for food. Read more about fish. Turkeys' beaks and toes are burned off with a hot blade. Many suffer heart failure or debilitating leg pain, often becoming crippled under the weight of their genetically manipulated and drugged bodies. Read more about turkeys. When they have finally grown large enough, animals raised for food are crowded onto trucks and transported over many miles through all weather extremes to the slaughterhouse. Those who survive this nightmarish journey will have their throats slit, often while they are still fully conscious. Many are still conscious when they are plunged into the scalding water of the defeathering or hair-removal tanks or while their bodies are being skinned or hacked apart.
