As Christians We're in God's Family Together

By David J. Stewart | April 2018

Ephesians 3:14-15, “For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of
our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named.”

Jesus said in Matthew 25:40, “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” So according to the Holy Bible, someone who attacked a Christian, even the least of the saints, has also attacked the Lord Jesus Christ! God wants us to know that we're in this thing together! My enemies are Jesus' enemies, and His enemies are my enemies! One for all and all for one! If we don't pull and pray for each other as Christians, certainly no one else is going to do it.

That is why when the crowd informed Jesus that His own family was waiting for Him outside, He corrected them and said that every believer is His family. Mark 3:32-35, “And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee. And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren? And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.”

In other words, Jesus is saying that, “We're in this thing together!” If someone hurts you, Jesus says, they might as well have hurt me too, because we're a team! Christians stick together! All for one and one for all! That is how God intended for it to be. We wash each other's feet, and help each other, loving and respecting one another, not coveting our neighbour's wife, car, children, job or home; loving one another in the fear of the Lord with all holiness. It is an important concept for every born-again believer to understand, that Christians ought to have unity in the Spirit.

Sadly, America's Baptist churches are woefully divided because of doctrinal debates; such as, wrong repentance (reformation), Lordship Salvation (partial faith in Christ plus discipleship), counterfeit Bible versions, et cetera. There can be NO unity as long as there is no doctrinal harmony concerning repentance, the Holy Bible and the Gospel. Our churches are a house divided.

1st John 4:4, "Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world."

Simply acknowledge what Christ did and believe on Him!
