The Inexcusable Person Who Judges Others

By David J. Stewart | June 2018

Romans 2:1-3, “Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things. But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things. And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?”

Please don't misunderstand our text verse. You might mistake what God is saying, to think that it is only wrong to judge someone if we are doing that same particular sin. But that is not what God is teaching us. The Lord is saying that WE ARE ALL SINNERS; therefore, NO ONE has a right to point fingers in condemnation of other who sin. You may not commit murder, but if you gossip you are just as guilty. You may not commit adultery, but if you harbor hatred against another person, Jesus said that is equivalent to murder (Matthew 5:21-22). In other words, don't judge others because they sin differently than you do!

And please notice carefully that the Holy Bible doesn't say the sin of judging others is inexcusable, it says that the person doing the judging is inexcusable. In other words, no one gets a free pass when it comes to judging others. If you throw rocks at anyone who sins, YOU WILL BE JUDGED FOR IT in eternity. I am not talking about the courts punishing crime. I am talking about condemning someone who has faltered in the past, and you refuse to let them live it down. I am talking about criticizing someone based upon mere rumors and hearsay, not upon solid evidence. The very name of Satan means “the accuser.” Revelation 12:10, “And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.” The internet today is rife with unjust criticism, unfounded rumors, slanderous gossip, satanic hatred and all manner of filthy communication! Anybody can, and does, say anything about anyone! In America today, you are deemed guilty until proven innocent in the court of public opinion, in the ungodly manure-spreading media, and in our Masonic legal system.

Romans 2:1, “Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.” Anytime that you or I condemn another person who sins, the Holy Bible warns that we are actually CONDEMNING OUR SELF! The reason why is found in Matthew 7:1-5, “Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.” NO ONE is without sin! NO ONE is above God's law! We are ALL woeful sinners in the sight of a holy God.

The following passage of Scripture is inexplicably precious to me. I can just ponder this passage for hours, because of its doctrinal depth and abundance of truth. Please read this slowly and carefully...

Romans 3:23-28, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.”

I love those Bible verses! Isn't that so beautiful? ... BEING JUSTIFIED FREELY BY HIS GRACE THROUGH THE REDEMPTION THAT IS IN CHRIST JESUS!!! Let's look at some of these precious truths...

  1. BEING JUSTIFIED FREELY - Salvation is the free gift of God (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9). Redemption for humanity cost God the Father His only begotten Son. It cost Jesus' everything.

  2. BY HIS GRACE - Someone has said that “GRACE” could be expressed as an acronym: “GOD'S RICHES AT CHRIST'S EXPENSE.” I really like that saying! No one deserves eternal life. We all deserve to burn in the fires of Hell for all eternity for our own sinful choices in life. Every human being is a sinner by nature and by choice. The exception is Jesus Christ, who had no earthly biological father. It was a miraculous virgin birth wrought by the Holy Spirit, with God Himself as Jesus' biological Father.

  3. THROUGH THE REDEMPTION THAT IS IN CHRIST - Salvation can ONLY be obtained through childlike faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Effectively, getting saved is a matter of humility, because a person must submit to the simple truth that only a humble carpenter from Nazareth can save them, not their religion, not their Catholic priest, not their sacraments, nor their meritous works.

  4. WHOM GOD SET FORTH TO BE A PROPITIATION - I love that big word! “Propitiation” simple means “to appease one's wrath.” Only through the precious sprinkled blood of the Lamb (1st Peter 1:19-19; Hebrews 9:22-24), applied to the heavenly Mercy Seat (Hebrews 9:12, 24; 12:24), can the holy wrath of God the Father be appeased against condemned sinners (Romans 5:9).

  5. THROUGH FAITH IN HIS BLOOD - There is no salvation apart from the wonderful name of JESUS (Acts 4:10-12), because of the precious blood that He shed for our sins (Revelation 1:5; 7:14; 1st John 1:7).

  6. TO DECLARE HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS - I love that! This is the imputed righteous of God (2nd Corinthians 5:21). By faith, God credits our sins to Christ, and credits Christ's righteousness to us (Romans 4:5-6; Philippians 3:9; Romans 10:3-4). Literally, we are saved by GOD'S RIGHTEOUSNESS, and a good thing that is, because we have none of our own to offer the Lord (Isaiah 64:6).

  7. THE JUSTIFIER OF HIM WHICH BELIEVETH IN JESUS - What a precious truth! Please notice the simplicity that is in Christ (2nd Corinthians 11:3-4). There is no mention of “turning away from a sinful ways” nor of “repenting from sins” to be saved. Nor is there any mention of water baptism, speaking in tongues, nor anything else; but rather, simply to BELIEVE. Anyone who is trusting solely upon the blessed Savior, relying solely upon His death on the cross for our sins, burial and bodily resurrection the third day (i.e., the Gospel, or Good News), is truly and forever saved (1st Corinthians 15:1-6). it is that simple!!!

What a beautiful set of statements! I could have gleaned some more, but these are the truths I wanted you to see.

NOBODY IS LAUGHING IN HELL!!!

Did you know that you don't have to ask Jesus to save you? God has already told you how to be saved, that is, by simply believing that His Son died on the cross for your sins, was buried, and raised up from the dead three days later. Christ raised up from the dead, which means that God the Father accepted His Son's payment for the sins of the world. Christ suffered on the cross so that we wouldn't have to suffer in a literal Hell forever. Amen! You don't have to bow your head to be saved. You don't have to pray. You don't have to do anything except believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins, and make that your hope for Heaven!

Nothing Can Replace The Holy Bible!

Give Me Jesus!
(video sermon by Pastor Danny Castle - You don't want to keep your eye on others, because they'll let you down. They'll hurt you.
And you don't want to keep your eyes on yourself, because you'll feel inadequate, like a loser and a failure. Keep your eyes on Jesus!)

Salvation is not doing your best, it is having Christ's best put to your account through receiving Him by faith.

God will not save anyone who is trying to be saved, He will only save those who are trusting to be saved.

Religion is man trying to reach God through human effort, but Christianity is
God trying to reach man by the sacrifice of His only begotten Son on the cross.

Well, you know what brother, you can't take it far enough, when they're pushing all these false versions, and all the bookstores, and the Christian bookstores, and all of your big name preachers are all preaching false versions! “Nothing in my future can ever affect the salvation that I have... Once you trust the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, you are eternally secure!” —Pastor Hank Lindstrom (1940-2008), a quote from the classic MP3 sermon titled, “How Permanent Is Your Salvation?

“Salvation is based upon purely what Jesus Christ has done. And if you've trusted Jesus Christ here, you're saved forever! Nothing in your life, nothing in your death, angels, principalities, nothing—nothing in your future—could ever undo that relationship that has been made when you trusted Jesus Christ as Savior. And there are many people who are confused over this whole thing.”

“There are many people who name the name of Jesus Christ, who are not saved, because they're trusting in living the Christian life, or in their works, or in some efforts that they're doing, in order to obtain their salvation.”
