One Generation Passeth Away, Another Cometh

By David J. Stewart | April 2018

Ecclesiastes 1:2-4, “Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity. What profit hath a man of all his labour
which he taketh under the sun? One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever.”

I regularly listen to Alexander Scourby read the inspired King James Bible (which you can freely hear on YouTube). I tell you, there is NOTHING in my life that can compare to the blessings that I receive while listening to the inspired Word of God. I love the Holy Bible!!! I hate the modern Bible perversions, they are ALL corrupt! The new versions read like a comicbook, or the opinion section of a local newspaper, lacking any authority. The true Word of God speaks with absolute final authority!

As I was listening to the Old Testament the other day, a phrase caught my attention from “ Ecclesiastes 1:4, “One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever.” One hundred years ago there were over a billion people alive upon the earth, many of whom were young and attractive, but they are all dead now! The earth still remains, but the people alive centuries ago are all dead. This earthly life comes and goes so quickly. James 4:14, “Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”

When I look at the ocean waves breaking on the reef, I realize that people had been watching that same exact view for thousands of years, who are all gone now. They saw the same exact moon, sun and stars that I am seeing today, but I am here and they are gone forever! I was born in 1967 and won't be here much longer. My mother lived to be 65. My father lived to be 76. If I follow the same pattern, I might live another 25 years left, only God knows. I am 51 years old now. By God's grace, I have dedicated the rest of my life to preaching THE TRUTH about THE BOOK (the inspired King James Bible), THE BLOOD (the literal precious blood of Jesus sprinkled upon the Mercy Seat in Heaven), and THE BODY (the importance of local New Testament churches). And of course, I intend to continue preaching the blessed truth about THE GOSPEL.

Very few people live to be in their 90's. Evangelist Billy Graham lived to be 99 years old, but I fear that he didn't make it to Heaven, because he plainly taught that works were required to get to Heaven. Billy Graham taught that forsaking sinful ways and confessing Christ continually every day is required to get to Heaven, which is a false gospel. Perhaps you say that Mr. Graham believed on Christ, and that is all the Bible requires. Yes, you are 100% correct that simple childlike faith in the Good News (Gospel) of Christ crucified, buried and risen is all that is required to be born-again, but like unsaved Roman Catholics and Seventh-day Adventists, Billy Graham ADDED human effort to the Gospel, negating it (Acts 15:1; Galatians 3:1-2).

The beloved Pastor Curtis Hutson (born in 1934) died of prostate cancer at age 61 in 1995.
