Fears Are Nothing More Than a State of Mind

By David J. Stewart | July 2018

2nd Timothy 1:7, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2nd Colossians 4:16, “For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.” Ephesians 4:23, “And be renewed in the spirit of your mind.” Colossians 3:10, “And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him.”

I was driving down the road today and I saw a sign outside a gas station that read: “Fears are nothing more than a state of mind.” That  thought impressed upon me. What a great truth! When we are afraid, it is only in our mind. I have heard some men brag of being fearless, but I seriously doubt that. Everything fears something. Certainly, a wise man fears God, if we go against Him. We all tend to fear something in life. Most people fear unemployment, which is why they tolerate abuse and problems with co-workers and management at work. Many people fear loneliness, as I do, and I am lonely daily. I live with that which I fear, but each day I am alone my fears grow weaker, because I am getting used to being alone, knowing that my precious God and Savior is with me. Psalms 27:1, “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”

Our text verses from various passages teach that a believer's mind must be renewed from day to day. I love Colossian 4:16, “For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.” The human body grows and wears old day by day, eventually incapable of sustaining our earthly life anymore (i.e., death); but the inward man, which is our spirit and soul, can be renewed day by day without wearing old or decay. Fears are nothing more than a mindset. When we fear, it is simply because we have not yet learned to trust God.

suppose I am guilty of worrying as much as anyone at times. I have been through some inexplicably emotionally painful times during my life, where my nightmares were an escape from the horrors of real life. I know what overwhelming emotional trauma feels like. I know what the temptation to commit suicide feels like. I know what it is like to want to die and not face another day of life, because there is so much pain, loss and hardship. This is true especially if you have never been through such experiences and it is the first time. That was my case.

I know the pain of rejection by a local church family, at Harvest Baptist Church on Guam. They discarded me like an old shoe in 2014, simply because I took a faithful stand against the modern, corrupt, Alexandrian Bible versions. They use, sell and promote different conflicting Bible versions at Harvest. I wasn't rude or mean about it, I simply shared sermons by Dr. Jack Hyles, Dr. Al lacy and other fundamentalist preachers with others, to help them see the truth. As Dr. Tom Ferrell said at Harvest, of all places ironically, “A friend helps a friend to see!” Well, when I was a true friend toward the pastors at Harvest Baptist Church on Guam, they scolded me for it and forced me out of their church, glad to see me go. They just gave up on me and didn't care if I ever came back. That is not biblical Christianity. Consequently, I was overwhelmed with grief and much sadness in the years to follow, having no church family. I even contacted Harvest in 2017, humbling requesting a chance to sit in on the preaching, but they said go away! Well, I'm not going away!!!

NOBODY IS LAUGHING IN HELL!!!

Did you know that you don't have to ask Jesus to save you? God has already told you how to be saved, that is, by simply believing that His Son died on the cross for your sins, was buried, and raised up from the dead three days later. Christ raised up from the dead, which means that God the Father accepted His Son's payment for the sins of the world. Christ suffered on the cross so that we wouldn't have to suffer in a literal Hell forever. Amen! You don't have to bow your head to be saved. You don't have to pray. You don't have to do anything except believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins, and make that your only hope for Heaven!

Nothing Can Replace The Holy Bible!

Give Me Jesus!
(video sermon by Pastor Danny Castle - You don't want to keep your eye on others, because they'll let you down. They'll hurt you.
And you don't want to keep your eyes on yourself, because you'll feel inadequate, like a loser and a failure. Keep your eyes on Jesus!)

Salvation is not doing your best, it is having Christ's best put to your account through receiving Him by faith.

God will not save anyone who is trying to be saved, He will only save those who are trusting to be saved.

Religion is man trying to reach God through human effort, but Christianity is
God trying to reach man by the sacrifice of His only begotten Son on the cross.

Luke 11:28, “But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.”

“You can sit there and say, 'Oh, well, you just took it too far. You just took King James onlyism too far!' Well, you know what brother, you can't take it far enough, when they're pushing all these false versions, and all the bookstores, and the Christian bookstores, and all of your big name preachers are all preaching false versions! You know, we need to stand our ground on this issue!!!” —a quote by Pastor Steven Anderson from the awesome MP3 sermon, “Saved By The Word.”

At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can.”

Redeeming The Time

Luke 19:10, “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

“Nothing in my future can ever affect the salvation that I have... Once you trust the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, you are eternally secure!” —Pastor Hank Lindstrom (1940-2008), a quote from the classic MP3 sermon titled, “How Permanent Is Your Salvation?

“Salvation is based upon purely what Jesus Christ has done. And if you've trusted Jesus Christ here, you're saved forever! Nothing in your life, nothing in your death, angels, principalities, nothing—nothing in your future—could ever undo that relationship that has been made when you trusted Jesus Christ as Savior. And there are many people who are confused over this whole thing.”
—Pastor Hank Lindstrom (1940-2008), a quote from the classic MP3 sermon titled, “How Permanent Is Your Salvation?”

“There are many people who name the name of Jesus Christ, who are not saved, because they're trusting in living the Christian life, or in their works, or in some efforts that they're doing, in order to obtain their salvation.”
—Pastor Hank Lindstrom (1940-2008), a quote from the classic MP3 sermon titled, “How Permanent Is Your Salvation?
