It Takes Courage For a Christian To Stand Alone

By David J. Stewart | January 2018

Ephesians 6:11-13, “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

One of the hardest things I have had to do in my Christian life is go against other Baptist preachers, because of their tolerance for heresy. In so doing I have been outcast as an enemy for telling THE TRUTH. And once you make an enemy of a pastor, his whole congregation turns against you too because they unquestioningly support their pastor. The apostle Paul experienced the same conflict, as did Evangelist Billy Sunday, Pastor Jack Hyles, John the Baptist and other faithful preachers. Galatians 4:16, “Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?” It requires no courage to go along with the crowd. Anyone can swim downstream with the other fish, but it requires courage to swim upstream against the flow of things.

There is no way to avoid becoming “controversial” and offending a fellow preacher who is in the wrong, and is too stubborn to change his ways from wrong thinking to biblical thinking. Proverbs 26:12, “Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him.” 2nd Corinthians 11:6a, “But though I be rude in speech, yet not in knowledge...” I have had pastors say cruel things to me over the years. After being told to shut up about the Alexandrian Bible versions by one pastor, he asked me the unkind question: “How's your beliefs working out for your social life?” The answer is not too well when it comes to Baptist churches, because I love God's Word and hate every false way, far more than the shallow pastors who keep trying to silence me. Psalms 119:104, “Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.” I hate the Devil's counterfeit Bible versions, so much that I want to warn everybody, as often as I can.

One pastor critically said to me, “You're consumed with exposing these corrupt Bibles!” Yes, of course I am, and I plan to stay consumed about it, for God magnifies His Word above His very own name. Psalms 138:2, “I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.” God warns that He will remove anyone's part from the Book of Life, if they remove from His words.

Here is a very truthful quote from Dr. Peter S. Ruckman (1921-2016)...

Anyone who thinks that he can find the errors in the AV (as Origen found them in the Hebrew Old Testament) and then, after correcting 64,000 of them (that is the number of changes found in the NIV and NASV), still cannot produce an inerrant “Bible,” is not in anyone’s “humility” bracket. They BOAST ABOUT THEIR ABILITY TO CORRECT GOD ALMIGHTY. —Dr. Peter S. Ruckman, “The Mythological Septuagint” (.PDF book), page 60.

The average pastor (including independent Baptist pastors) is filled with so much sinful arrogance, stubbornness and pride, that they make every lame excuse possible to justify their lack of resolve, passion, interest and separation in the matter of the corrupt Alexandrian Bible versions. Again, Dr. Ruckman rightly states:

“The first two requirements of a Biblical scholar are a humble mind and a believing heart (1 Cor. 1-2; Isa. 29; Luke 10; 1 Thess. 2; Deut. 29:29).” —Dr. Peter S. Ruckman, “The Alexandrian Cult Series” (.PDF book), page 75.

Again, God warns that tampering with His words is such a serious offensive, that He promises to remove someone's “part” from the Book of Life as a consequence. Revelation 22:19, “And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” I like something that Dr. John R. Rice wrote, that I read this past week in his book titled, “Dr. Rice, Here Is My Question.” Dr. Rice points out that when a person receives Christ as their Savior, that person's NAME is written in the Lamb's Book of Life. I agree with Dr. Rice that there is no difference between the “Lamb's Book of Life” verses the “Book of Life.” They are one in the same. But what I wanted to share with you is that Dr. Rice says having one's “PART” removed is not the same as having their “NAME” removed. I agree with Dr. Rice. Once your name is recorded in the Book of Life, it can never be removed, not for any reason. There is no possible way for any born-again child of God to lose God's salvation. How could we lose by bad works, that which we did not earn by good works? It is impossible.

By “part,” the Bible means that there is a vacancy in the Book of Life for every human being. That is different than having one's name written in that vacant place. So everyone has a place reserved in the Book of Life for them, and the very moment they believe the Gospel, their name is forever written down and cannot be undone. But if someone corrupts the Word of God, it is the same effectively as rejecting the dear Savior, for Jesus is the living Word of God according to Revelation 1:1-3, 14 and Revelation 19:13, and that person's “part” will be removed since they have made their decision. I thought that was an interesting truth, worthy to share with my web visitors.

It takes courage to speak THE TRUTH, when you're amongst people (sadly, even fellow believers) who don't want to hear the truth. Courage doesn’t mean you don’t get afraid. Courage means you don’t let fear stop you. I decided years ago as a preacher that I was going to say it like it is, and not worry about pleasing men. John 12:42-43, “Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue: For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.” I don't care if it harelips every dog in the county, and makes me an enemy of every Baptist pastor in America, I am going to speak THE TRUTH about the Bible issue debate.

Granted, I admit that the modern Bible versions, in some cases, render the archaic Elizabethan English easier to understand; BUT, it is also very true that in EVERY CASE, these modern perversions attack the deity of Christ, remove the godhead, secularize the Bible, diminish the preeminence of Christ and remove thousands of words (in many cases entire Bible passages). This is exactly what the Devil intended, to deceive the world (Revelation 12:9). To embrace the Devil's modern Bible versions is like choosing that beautiful trophy wife to marry, for her outward beauty, but then you find out afterwards that she is a bank-robber and murderer, with cancer.

Joshua 23:6, “Be ye therefore very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses, that ye turn not aside therefrom to the right hand or to the left.”

2nd Chronicles 19:11, “And, behold, Amariah the chief priest is over you in all matters of the LORD; and Zebadiah the son of Ishmael, the ruler of the house of Judah, for all the king's matters: also the Levites shall be officers before you. Deal courageously, and the LORD shall be with the good.”

Psalms 31:24, “Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.”

Tragically, all across America and the world wicked religious leaders “ENCOURAGE THEMSELVES IN AN EVIL MATTER,” by supporting and tolerating the Alexandrian Bible perversions!!! ...

Psalms 64:5, “They encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, Who shall see them?”

I am saddened and grieved that so many church pastors these days are indifferent toward what Satan is doing with the Holy Bible, corrupting it. The average Baptist pastor doesn't think it a serious enough matter to preach against the corrupt Bible versions. I've heard many preachers say that it may do more harm than good to criticize the counterfeit Bible versions. In so doing, those wicked servants are BIDING GODSPEED to the Devil's crowd who butcher the Bible, and are PARTAKER OF THEIR EVIL DEEDS!!!
