Gone for Surgery
by David J. Stewart
I've gone to California for surgery in March. I am overwhelmed with pain and torment, but I know that Jesus is with me even when I'm alone and suffering.
I've suffered for several years now, horribly, due to multiple problems with my neck. I had cervical discectomy and spinal fusion at C5-C6-C7 last year, which has offered no relief whatsoever. My condition has worsened gradually over time. I tried to cut back on my morphine sulfate the other day and broke down in tears because the neck pain was so bad. I won't try that again.
A recent MRI shows that my spinal cord is still considerably compressed from multiple bone spur formations and another protruding disk at C4-C5. The pain in my neck is now radiating down the entire length of both arms and legs. My neck is a mess and the pain is unbearable at times even with the pain medications. Please keep me in your prayers, earnestly.
Even so, come, Lord Jesus, the Great Physician!
