Daniel's 10 Day Diet

       There are hundreds of diets being advertised all over television and on the internet, but how about trying a diet right from the Bible that lasts just 10-days. It's a revitalization diet that will take you from feeling down in the dumps to feeling like a million bucks. Well, at least it worked for Daniel and his friends.

God caused the prince of the eunuchs to favor Daniel. Amen! God can put it in someone's heart to favor us and help us. It's important that we continually pray and ask for God to help us and those around us who need salvation (1st Timothy 2:1). Philippians 4:6-7 tells us to pray about everything and not to worry as the unsaved do. The prince (chief) over the eunuchs was responsible for their diet. If the eunuchs weren't taken care of properly, king Nebuchadnezzar would have ordered his immediate death.

Daniel didn't want to defile himself with the pork platter, wine and all the red meats. Daniel was obeying the ceremonial laws for Old Testament Jews. Daniel loved the Lord and wanted to do right. Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the king's meat. I'm sure they had barbequed chicken, steaks and pork spare ribs; but Daniel knew it wasn't for the Jews. Today there are no ceremonial laws for Jews, and they can eat pork as God told Peter in Acts chapter ten. Here's what we read in Daniel about his proposed health thy diet...

Daniel 1:12-15, "Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink. Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king's meat: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants. So he consented to them in this matter, and proved them ten days. And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king's meat."

The diet was composed of simply water and beans (seeds). I am sure that some green leaf vegetables were included, but the Bible does not say. The Daniel diet is specifically WATER and BEANS (pulse). This is NOT beans out of a can, nor is it ham-hock black-eyed peas. No salt. No meat. No extras. Just plain beans and water!!!

After 10-days Daniel and his friends looked great, but the other princes were lethargic and glassy-eyed. The diet was so successful that the prince of the eunuchs took away all their wine and red meat. Oh they must have been mad as can be. No wonder they tried to have Daniel thrown in the lion's den and killed. They must have hated Daniel. They went from eating steak and champagne to beans and water because of Daniel. They had indulged in eating eggs and legs during the week, and beers and steers on the weekend. Now they were consuming beans and water!!! But do you know what, the Bible teaches us how to be healthy and avoid heart disease, diabetes and premature death.

My friend, it's just a 10-day diet. JUST TEN DAYS! Can you do this diet for 10-days. And then look in the mirror. Have a friend or family member look at you before and after and see if they can tell an honest difference. This is a free diet from the Word of God that WORKS! If it revitalizes you and helps you, then perhaps do this diet once a month or every two months for 10-days.
