The Divine Origin Of The Bible

By David J. Stewart

2nd Timothy 3:16-17, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”

The Bible is the self-proclaimed Word of God. 2nd Timothy 3:16-17 teaches that ALL SCRIPTURE is given by inspiration of God. Proof of the Bible's divine origin is found in the unique and impossible manner in which it was given to mankind. The Bible was given by inspiration to approximately 40 different writers, who lived centuries apart in most cases (spanning 1,500 years). Most of these men spoke different languages and never met one another. They came from different backgrounds, some rich and others poor, some from the city and others from the country. There's NO WAY, not even astronomically improbable, that all of these writings—some in Hebrew, some in Chaldean (Daniel), some in Greek—could all come together To form a perfectly harmonious single Book containing one-third prophecy! It's absolutely IMPOSSIBLE!!!

Furthermore, over 5,000 Bible manuscripts have been unearthed and discovered by archaeologists, many found around the Dead Sea area, which are commonly referred to as The Dead Sea Scrolls (read this fascinating information and be totally amazed my friend). There's not a book on earth that can claim the same spectacular manner of discovery. If mere mortal men authored the Bible (and not God), then why are there 66 books, being dug up and discovered in separate locations, all unique and drastically different then the others? Why does ONLY the Bible indict mankind for his wickedness, express the love of a supreme Creator, and provide a way of escape, God's plan of redemption through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ? No other book in history can make such amazing and wondrous claims!

The divine origin of the Bible has been challenged by unbelievers, skeptics and naysayers for millenniums. Yet, not one spadeful of archaeologist's dirt has ever disproved the Bible. Unlike every false religion, the Bible cannot be traced back to any mortal man; but rather, the Son of God Himself, the Christ, Jesus our Creator and Lord. Thank God for the gift, sacrifice and provision of His dear Son, Who shed His precious blood on Calvary's cross so that we could live with Him for eternity! What foolish child, man or woman could neglect so great an offer of pardon, love and benevolence! God is a good God, Who in His love has provided a way of eternal escape from this dungeon of earthly despair, because of sin and evil. Aren't you glad that the true and living God of the universe is a good Being, morally perfect (holy), just, forgiving and long-suffering to usward, not willing that any should perish (2nd Peter 3:9).

Contrary to the ramblings of heathen Modernists and unbelieving skeptics, archaeology has greatly substantiated the claims of the Word of God, such as the recent discovery of the city of Sodom at the Dead Sea. The fast-moving and dangerous waters of the Jordan River flow down from the Sea Of Galilee and dead end in what else, the Dead Sea! The Dead Sea has the highest salt (sodium chloride) content of any body of water in the world (30% verses about 3-4 % in the ocean). The Dead Sea is the LOWEST point on earth, 2,500 feet below the Mediterranean Sea. The sulfur tested at Sodom's remains is some of the purest found in the world, signifying it was produced by intense heat (when God reigned down burning fire and brimstone from heaven to utterly destroy the wicked as an EXAMPLE of what lies in wait for ALL the wicked, Jude 1:7-8).

The Bible is the self-proclaimed Word of God. 2nd Timothy 3:16-17 teaches that ALL SCRIPTURE is given by inspiration of God. All of the Bible is inspired, not just the parts that men decide to believe. It's been said that the smallest Bible in the world is the one men live. Truly, no man is a shining example of the perfection in Jesus Christ that God wants us to become. One day, at the Rapture, this corrupt body will become incorruptible (1st Corinthians 15:51-54). And our earthly and feeble bodies will be changed, fashioned like unto the Lord's resurrected body (Philippians 3:21). What a day that will be! I don't know about you, but I'm glad that I'm on the winning side in Christ Jesus!!!
