The Proverbs 31 Woman

by David J. Stewart | March 2006

Proverbs 31:10, “Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.”

What is a "Proverbs 31 woman"?  It is a woman who is pleasing to God; and in order to be pleasing to God (in the case of a married woman), she must be obedient and committed to her husband's happiness.  She must be committed to the well being and safety of her children, to loving them, and to promoting their spiritual growth.  No feminist is a Proverbs 31 woman!  No whorish, above the skirt wearing floozy, is is a Proverbs 31 woman!  She is NOT pleasing to God.  No lazy wife, who causes her husband grief, is a Proverbs 31 woman.  Let's go through these Scriptures and find out exactly what the Word of God defines as a Proverbs 31 woman, a godly woman.  Most articles on the Proverbs 31 woman which I have read don't say much, so I'm going to break it down, and give it to you in simple terms.

All the money in the world cannot buy loyalty.  Wealthy men may have their whores and mistresses; but, money cannot buy genuine love, which is a gift from God.  A woman of God is virtuous, wears dresses (modest clothing), and knows the dangers of teasing the opposite sex.  Many women today are horribly malicious, actually enjoying teasing married men to lust upon them.  Can you imagine how hot Hell will be for such home-wreckers if they die without Christ as Savior?  Of course, God doesn't want anyone to die in their sins (2nd Peter 3:9).

In conclusion, there is no such thing as a perfect wife, or husband. The key to happiness in a marriage is two people who are mutually committed to making the marriage a success. A marriage is: Two people making a life for each other! Many marriages are lopsided, where one spouse shirks their responsibilities, and the other is continually getting upset because of it. This is unfair. A happy marriage requires a team effort between husband and wife.

Many husbands are abusive, who won't allow their wives to live. God created Eve from Adam's rib, the nearest thing to his heart, to be loved and cherished. The woman was nor created from man's head to rule with him, nor from his feet to be trodden upon; but rather, from his rib, whose purpose is to protect her husband's heart. That's what the ribs do, they protect the heart and allow the lungs to expand and breath. God bless the virtuous woman. America's daughters today are being indoctrinated by the wicked world to become promiscuous whores, marriage rebels and miserable feminists. God's way is not only the best way, it is the only way to truly be happy in life. God created every woman for a man. 1st Corinthians 11:9, “Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.”

It is wickedness for any married woman to put her own education above her husband's will and life. I hear wicked people telling wives not to allow a husband to interfere with their education. THAT IS EVIL!!! If your husband says you don't go to school, YOU DON'T GO! If your husband says to quit college, YOU QUIT! You are accountable to your husband, as unto the Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:22, “ Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.” A divorced woman has failed at her main task in life, which is to obey her husband in obedience to God. Most women today couldn't care less about what God thinks. Ungodly American women today are angry, empowered and rebellious! Men can't be blamed for avoiding marriage to a monster! Anything with two heads is a monster!

This doesn't mean that a divorced woman's life is over. God is willing to forgive all sin, and He'll use anybody for His glory who wants to serve Him. Albeit, God commands women to keep silent in the churches. 1st Corinthians 14:35, “And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.” This doesn't mean that women can't talk; but rather, they are not supposed to speak with authority from the pulpit, nor usurp control.

Although the Word of God certainly does set forth the man as the head of his household, it doesn't give him any right to be unkind or abusive towards his wife. Many Christian wives are slaves to a religious jerk. I say this kindly. Albeit, this does not allow any wife to betray and divorce her husband. We live in a nation of liars and quitters. I believe that God wants every wife to be as the woman in Proverbs 31; but, God also expects every husband to be as the husband in Ephesians 5:25-33. Every husband ought to be an Ephesians 5 man, loving his wife even as Christ loves the Church, giving His life for it.

Finally, may I say, I wrote this article with the primary intention of helping young women make the right choices before they mess up their life. Satan desires to sift you as wheat. The Devil is a beautiful liar, a master con artist, who will sell you a box of rocks if you fall for his deceptions. The Devil's only will for your life is to ruin you! You may not be able to prevent the Devil from attacking you, but you certainly don't have to invite him into your life. The Devil is a real person, a deceiver, because he knows you would never agree with him if you understood what he's doing to destroy you and your family. A Proverbs 31 woman is consumed with pleasing the Lord Jesus Christ, which is her motivation to obey her husband and care for her family.
