God's Favorite Number is Seven

By David J. Stewart | March 2018

Revelation 3:1, “And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven
Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.”

I am fascinated with the number seven. Did you know that seven is God's favorite number? Let me amaze you my friend. Let me amaze you about the number seven.

There are seven colors in the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Wow! That is so cool. There are seven days in a week. There are seven continents. There are seven notes in a scale of music. Say for example the key of C: C, D, E, F, G, A, B. Every cell in our human body is replaced each seven years. There have been seven world powers throughout history (the seventh being the now forming global New World Order). God likes the number seven!

Do you think it is a mere coincidence that so many important and dominant aspects of our daily life center around the number seven, which just so happens to be God's favorite number? You're a fool if you deny God's hand in all of this. If the universe merely exploded into existence and naturally evolved, then there would be no explanation for such logic and order, to have recognizable patterns such as the predominance of the number seven.

God created the universe in six days and then rested on the seventh. According to the Holy Bible, the Sabbath Day (the seventh day) is a symbol of Jesus Christ, in Whom we completely rest for salvation. ...

Hebrews 4:310-11, “For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest. Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.”

What a beautiful Scripture passage! The number seven signifies completeness, or perfection. A man can only be saved through the completeness of Christ's sacrifice on the cross. Man's best efforts will always be incomplete, falling short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Perhaps this is why man's number in the Bible is six. The popular mysterious  number “666” represents the name of the coming Antichrist, who will become the world's most popular and powerful man. Revelation 13:18b, “for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.” Yet, even the greatest achievements by this a man will fall short of the number seven, which is God's number.

The Antichrist (or Beast) will be loved by the world. By the power of Satan, the Antichrist (i.e., in place of Christ; a counterfeit) will rise to power as a mighty political leader, and the masses of the world will eagerly follow him. Revelation 13:8, “And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” Notice carefully that not everyone will worship the Beast; but rather, all they whose names are not written in the Lamb's Book of Life (i.e., they who are not born-again). The False Prophet will be a world religious leader, and will lead the deluded masses to worship the image of the Beast (Revelation 13:15). Everywhere I go nowadays, I see people (young and old alike) connected to the internet through handheld gadgets. Clearly all this advanced technology today is paving the way for the Beast system, aka, the New World Order! It is here friends, and it is here to stay!!! The question is are you prepared to meet your Maker?

In the inspired King James Bible, the number “seven ”is mentioned 486 times in the Old Testament, and 76 times in the New Testament! In the Book of Revelation we often find God using the number seven: seven churches, seven angels, seven seals, seven trumpets, and seven stars.

In the Old Testament, God told Gideon to march around the city of Jericho seven times, and then to make seven circuits on the seventh day, and to have seven prophets blow seven trumpets.

In the Scriptures we are commanded to forgive, not just seven times, but seven times seventy!

In the Old Testament, the Israelites had failed to keep the Sabbath Day (the seventh day of the week) for 490 years. So God required the Jews to spend one year in Babylonian captivity for each seven years they hadn't observed the Sabbath, or 70 years of captivity!

I am only pointing out some of the more obvious use of the number seven in the Scriptures, but there are many more.

Elijah told the Syrian captain, Naaman, to go wash seven times in the muddy Jordan river to be healed of his leprosy.

Jesus made seven statements on the cross. (Only one of those statements was followed by an exclamation mark, which was for the beloved disciple John to care for His mother.)

Of 44,000 people asked their favorite number, a startling 4,000 picked the number seven![1]

In every article that I type, I indent each beginning paragraph with seven spaces. Whenever I have a choice of numbers, I choose seven. It is my favorite number too, because it makes me think about God. When I order things on the internet, like Alexander Scourby Bibles, I often order seven at a time. I often buy seven items; Such as, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups at the store. I like the number seven, because God likes it, and it reminds me of my precious and awesome Creator. Thank you God for your blessings in my life, most of all, for the gift of your precious only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, the dead Lamb of God Who died for my sins!!!!!!!
