Testimony of a Jewish Believer

By Amy

"What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision? Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God."

"What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin...it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and the uncircumcision through faith."

--Romans 3:1-2, 9, 29

Partial Understanding.

I have always heard that there was a God and that Jesus was his son. With this, I also heard that Jesus died for the sins of others. Even though I had always heard this, I could really never say that that was what I believed. The major reason why?.....My parents had never taught me anything about religion. They were both born to Jewish parents, but neither of them were really raised Jewish.

Confusion.

I remember celebrating Christmas all my life, and have seen pictures of myself, as an infant, sitting in my baby chair, under the Christmas tree with a bow on my head. You can probably just imagine how confused I was growing up. After my parents got divorced, they both married Christians. So we celebrated Christmas, Easter, and every other holiday...but never any Jewish holidays.

Start of a new beginning.

Well, a couple of semesters ago, I took a religion course. We learned about many different religions, but I was most interested in Christianity. But I still could not say that I had a religion.

The Lord sends a messenger.

As the months have passed by now...I have felt a little lost and lonely. Finally, I met this young man, he was a friend of my friend's boyfriend. After I knew him for a month, him and I started talking about religion. I told him where I stood and he told me that he was a Born-again Christian. He told me about how and when he was saved and I naturally became more interested in what he had to say. After this talk, I was not sure what to think. It was the next time he and I started to talk about religion, that I knew what I wanted. He started to read me passages from the Bible and explain them to me. I was so interested!

Further investigation.

The next day, at school I talked to the leader of the Christian group called Mustard Seeds. She gave me a Bible and a book called More Than a Carpenter. I immediately began reading the Bible and skimming the book. I called the guy that I had met and asked him if I could go to church with him...so we went. I loved the way that it made me feel.

Happy in Jesus.

I am so glad that I finally came to this realization and that I was able to except Jesus into my life. It is the best thing that I have ever done in life. I have to thank God that he allowed me to find him and Jesus, and for letting me meet this guy.....with out him, the chances of me being where I am today are pretty slim.
