The Satanic Origin of Hypnotism

by David J. Stewart

Franz Anton Mesmer, a Viennese physician who got his doctorate for a plagiarized dissertation on how the planets affect health, practiced Mesmerism which led to Hypnotism.  Mesmer was also an occult Freemason!  Mesmerism is a bit of medical quackery developed in the 1806 Sibly18th-century by Dr. Franz Anton Mesmer.  It involves some social role-playing with the mesmerizer making suggestions and his clients becoming absolutely mesmerized by him.  Mesmer used his extraordinary powers of suggestion to send people into frenzied convulsions or sleeplike trances.  He was so successful that to this day we use his name to describe the exercise of such powers over others.

Biblically, such occult practices are condemned and forbidden...

"When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.  There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.  For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD." -Deuteronomy 18:9-12

The Word of God teaches that our every thought should be brought into obedience unto Christ, not a hypnotist or psychologist.  2nd Corinthians 10:5 reads, "Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ."  Did you understand what you just read?  Wow!  The Bible teaches us to CAST DOWN everything that exalts itself against the knowledge of God!  The Bible is the knowledge of God.  That's what my entire website is about, casting down heresies and lies that blind people from the Truth.  As Christians, we should be against everything that excludes God's Word.  We should be against everything that isn't Biblically based.  This is why it's wrong for Christians to go to psychologists for advice.  This is why it's wrong to go to psychics.  This is why it's wrong to go to a Tarot card reader or palm reader.  Anyone who offers you spiritual help or advice who isn't using a Bible, say goodbye!  Hypnotism is of the Devil.
