“Tent City” Sacramento
It appears that the U.S. government has taxpayer money to give away to everyone these days except American citizens! 1.3 million American CITIZENS lost their home in 2007. 1.9 million American CITIZENS lost their job in 2008. And tragically, over one million immigrants illegally enter the United States every year, arrogantly breaking our laws, shaking their fists in our face, daring us to do something about it. While our government continues to send BILLIONS of dollars overseas, tens-of-millions of Americans are either unemployed or homeless. Homeless shelters are packed full in Sacramento, California, which has resulted in homeless citizens setting up tents along the American River, an area now known as, “Tent City” . . .
Sac. 'Tent City' Gaining New Residents By River
CBS | February 23, 2009
Sacramento's homeless rate is rising fast. With more foreclosures, jobs lost and full shelters, all you have to do is walk downtown or cruise the American River and you'll meet people who are homeless for the first time.
The sea of tents along the American River is hard to miss, and their number is growing.
"Anywhere from 20 to 50 people a week is showing up out here that just became homeless," said Steve Kruse, a homeless man. "There are shelters, but they're filling up so fast."
Many of the men and women in the tents lost their jobs and then their home.
The number of tent dwellers is increasing daily. It just doesn't make sense that our leaders give billions away to Israel, Russia, Mexico and other foreign nations, while millions of American CITIZENS can't find a job and are losing their home.
