Namby-pamby Preachers

By David J. Stewart

Webster's Dictionary defines the word namby-pamby as:

1. lacking in character or substance: INSIPID
2. WEAK, INDECISIVE

Tragically, this word describes MOST of America's pastors, ministers, and preachers today.  We are living in apostate times, when genuine men of God are difficult to find.  The average minister today drinks booze, goes to Hollywood movies, uses the Satanic New International Version of the Bible, never takes a stand against sin, and preaches a wishy-washy watered-down Gospel message that offends no one.  Romans 9:33 states, "As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed."  The Gospel OFFENDS unbelievers, who do not want to be told they are sinners, deserving of Hellfire.  Few preachers today have the courage to preach against sin publickly, or to make a scene.  Thank God for the example of the Christians in the Book of Acts, who publickly preached the Gospel, stirred the community for God, and made the Devil's crowd angry.  Many of the early believers were killed for their preaching, such as Stephen in Acts 7, and James in Acts 12.  America doesn't need any more dime-a-dozen pastors and preachers.  We need men of God--who hate sin, love people, and DESIRE to get the truth out to the public!

God give us some leatherlunged Billy Sundays--men who take an uncompromising stand against sin--preaching against booze, gambling, and dancing once again.  God give us some pastors who think abortion is a MAJOR CONCERN.  What is wrong with America's preachers?  Why are they so silent?  Why are our pulpits more interested in profit than people?
