Colossians 3:23-24, “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.”
The
day you got saved you no longer worked for your employer; you went to work
for the Lord Jesus Christ. The day you got saved you were no longer married
to your spouse; you became married to the Lord Jesus Christ. The day you got
saved Jesus became your Lord and Master.
In other words, the day you got saved you became a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. I'm not talking about making a commitment or full surrender to Christ to be saved, which is a popular heresy taught in many churches today. The heresy is called “Lordship Salvation.” My friend, Jesus is Lord, you don't make Him Lord.
From the moment you get saved, Jesus Christ automatically becomes your Lord. That's why I said you don't make Him Lord, because He already is Lord. He becomes your personal Lord the very moment you trust Him as your Savior.
To teach that a person must receive Jesus as their Savior AND Lord to be saved is like ordering a hotdog AND bun to eat at a fast-food joint. That wouldn't be wrong to say, but it wouldn't be necessary. Anyone who lives in America knows that when you order a hotdog to eat, the bun automatically comes with it. Likewise, when you receive Jesus as your Savior, He automatically becomes your Lord and you now serve Him, whether you acknowledge that fact or not.
This is why we read in the Bible that wives should obey their husbands as unto the Lord. Ephesians 5:22, “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.” This is why we read in the Bible that husbands should love their wives as Christ loved the Church as gave Himself for it. Ephesians 5:25, “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it.” Clearly, husbands and wives are supposed to see Jesus and His love when they see each other. Women who sinfully file for divorce are dragging Jesus into court, and hurting Jesus. Husbands who beat their wives are beating Jesus. Couples who hate each other are hating Jesus. Matthew 25:40, “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”
The Bible plainly teaches that WE SERVE CHRIST!

The Bible teaches that we will be rewarded by the Lord, because we work for the Lord. We serve Christ 24 hours a day. Thus, the Bible teaches that we should do everything that we do heartily as unto the Lord.
Who wouldn't be honored to do something for the Lord? Well, when we work diligently and stay busy, we make Jesus look good. But if we slack off and fail to do fulfil our obligations, then we become an embarrassment and shame to the Lord. There's nothing worse than a professed Christian who half-heartedly does anything. If you're going to do something... do it right!
Our attitude would be forever changed if we would simply grasp the truth taught in Colossians 3:23-24. Everything we do is unto the Lord, because now that we are saved we belong to Him. We serve Christ. As I grow older, the promises and teachings of the Scriptures have become much more precious and real to me. Life is so short. We'll be gone before you know it. This life is a one-shot deal. Let's make it count for Christ. I don't know about you, but I want to live each day serving Jesus Christ, for He is my Lord and Master by the new birth. END
