Proverb 11:30, “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.”
Soulwinning is everyone's job. Most believers have the wrong attitude, a
sinful attitude, that soulwinning is only for preachers and full-time
Christians workers. If you're a born-again believer, then God commands you
to go soul-winning. 2nd Corinthians 5:10-11, “For we must all appear
before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things
done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men...”
Proverb 14:25, “A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.” There are many false prophets lurking in churches today, teaching another Gospel (2nd Corinthians 11:3-4). The Gospel of Jesus Christ is simply that we believe on Jesus, the Christ, the Son of God, to forgive our sins. Those who require sinners to stop living in sin are speaking lies. This is a woeful deceit in many churches today. John MacArthur and Ray Comfort are propagating a false Gospel of Lordship Salvation.
The “terror of the Lord” applies to Christians. It will be terrifying for many believers on Judgment Day, when they stand before God and give account for their wasted life on earth. It will be terrifying for those who have done evil throughout their life, taking the Word of God lightly. We live in a generation of quitters, liars and excuse-makers. Proverb 11:31, “Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.” Everyone's day of judgment is fast approaching. It is your responsibility to share the Gospel with lost sinners as much as it is the preacher's.
In Romans 10:15, God calls the feet of the soul-winner “beautiful.” Most believers today have ugly looking feet. God mentions the “feet” because it is with our feet that we bring the Gospel to those who need it. The Bible teaches confrontational soul-winning. I once heard the apostate minister, Robert Schuller, say that you don't need to wear a big offensive button that reads, “Jesus saves”; nor do you need to drop Gospel tracts out of a blimp to get people saved; you just live your live for God and people will want what you have. Robert Schuller is wrong. That's a lie of the Devil.
If you genuinely live for Jesus Christ, the Bible says that the world will hate you (John 15:19) and you will suffer persecution (2nd Timothy 3:12). Most people won't like you. Some will attack you. Jesus said our reward will be great in Heaven (Matthew 5:12). Any professed Christian who is liked by everyone and popular is not living Godly in Christ Jesus. Soul-winning is every believer's duty. If you believe the Bible, then you know that the Lake of Fire will be the eternal grave of all Christ-rejecters. Those who die in their sins cannot go to Heaven (John 8:24). We all need a Savior, and His precious name is Jesus (Acts 4:10-12). For any professed believer to make excuses why it's not their job to win souls, they are distant from God. Those who know the heart of God, which is revealed through a proper understanding of the Scriptures, have a deep burden for lost sinners.
Those who spew out hatred for sinners know not the God of the Bible. God hates sin, and He will punish the wicked; but God “so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
There is a call to Christian leadership; but soul-winning is a command for every believer (Matthew 28:19-20). All Christians should be soul-winners. Certainly, only God can save a soul. 1st Corinthians 3:8, “So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.” END
