Pour Out Your Heart Before God

"Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah." —Psalm 62:8

In these times of sin and woe, it is important for Christians to walk with God and pour out their feelings, frustrations and concerns to God. King David took his burdens to the Lord and sought refuge for his soul in the Lord. As believers, we need to bath our life in prayer, walk with God and Cast all your care upon him; for he careth for you (1st Peter 5:7).

Psalm 62:8 is a beautiful Scripture... "Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah." The unsaved world turns to booze and other forms of substance abuse to escaper their woes. Judas turned to suicide. This is the world's selfish way of dealing with personal problems.

Sometimes even believers turn to booze, such as Noah. This is sin. Christians ought not to drink alcohol in the first place. In modern times, when medicines are readily available, there is no need for alcohol. Alcohol is a mind-altering drug and has become the rot of society.

Do you pour out your heart before God when things get tough in life? God asks us to cast our cares upon Him. But you say, "I've tried that and nothing ever happens." It is a matter of trust. God is asking us to trust Him—trust that He sees the big picture that we cannot, trust that He knows what is best for our life, and trust that He will make everything work out for right in the end (Romans 8:28). People tend to get angry at God because He doesn't work how, where and when we expect Him to. Yet, we fail to realize that God created the hundreds-of-billions of known galaxies in this universe in just ONE DAY (Genesis 1:14-16) by the mere Word of His mouth (2nd Peter 3:5; John 1:1-3).

God truly does work in "mysterious ways," i.e., in ways that are above and beyond our own frail human ways... "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts" (Isaiah 55:8,9). Who are we to demand that God do things in our own time and in the manner in which we think it should be done? You see, God knows better than anyone just how sinfully proud, stubborn and rotten we humans can be. Thus, God works in such a way that our faith is put to the test, to see if we really love Him or not.

I've been saved for 28 years now and have learned painfully that God always comes through for me; but in a way that led me through trials and tribulation, through pain and sorrow, as part of my training as a Christian... "That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, ye love..." (1st Peter 1:7,8). Interestingly, most people are consumed with making more money nowadays; but 1st Peter 1:7 teaches that the trial of one's faith is worth more than all the gold in the world.

A faith must be tested. I have been through some fiery trials in my life and dread the one's likely ahead; but I know that Jesus will make everything right when He returns at the Rapture of the saints, or else I pass from this miserable life of pain and sorrow into eternity to be with my precious Savior (John 16:22). Even so come Lord Jesus!!! Until that time comes or the Lord decides to take me home to Heaven, I will continue to pour out my heart before God as the Bible instructs and to cast my cares upon Him in faith. God is a tremendous and awesome God!

"Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him." —Job 13:15
