It's Not Just for Preachers!

by David J. Stewart

2nd Corinthians 5:10, “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”

Many professed Christian believers have the wrong mindset that soul-winning, standing against evil, contending for the Christian faith, defending the doctrine of Christ, and living a holy life are just for preachers; but that is not Biblical. The Bible proclaims in 2nd Corinthians 5:10 that every believer will stand before God at the Judgment Seat of Christ to give account of the good and the bad done on earth. Romans 14:12, “So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.” This means you, and me, and everyone else. We shall all give account to God.

The Christian life is not just for pastors and Christian leaders. Many secular singers and entertainers have the wrong attitude that they are not obligated to witness to anyone concerning Jesus Christ, because they are not preachers. But they have influence over a group of people that no one else has. In some cases, singers have influence over millions of people, drawing tens-of-thousands at their concerts; and yet they fail to share the Gospel with anyone. How tragic! Many of these same celebrities profess to love God and be Christians. Something is very wrong with their profession of faith.

I have yet to find even one website of a Contemporary Christian Music [CCM] artist that preaches the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They are all greedy and selfish imposters, who don't care about soul-winning, who are ashamed of Jesus Christ. John 12:43, “For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.”

It is every Christian's duty to teach the Gospel to lost sinners (Proverb 11:30; Daniel 12:3; Matthew 28:19-20; Philippians 2:16; 2nd Corinthians 5:10-11). Soul-winning is every believer's duty. Please watch the video sermon, FOUR CALLS TO SOUL-WINNING.

It is every believer's duty to live a holy (morally perfect) life. Although we will falter often, God expects us to try with the Holy Sprit living through us. Literally, Jesus wants to live the Christian life through us. We cannot live right without God's help. We need God. Jesus promised in John 15:1-7 that if we abide in Him, and His Word abides in us, that we would bare MUCH fruit (souls saved). 1st Corinthians 3:8 teaches that God giveth the increase. It is our job to share the Gospel with others. Some believers sow, others reap; but only God can save a soul. Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”

Every Christian believer is expected to live for God, go soul-winning, and live a separated holy life, as much as any preacher! Just because you may be a singer or musician doesn't excuse you from sharing the Gospel with others.

I am a musician, I love musical instruments with strings. I have a handful of favorite musicians than I admire. They are world famous. But I am saddened because they are worldly. They profess faith in Christ; but then frequent Las Vegas, play for homosexual singers on their albums, perform for singers who blaspheme God (who brag about getting drunk and glorify sin).

They go along to get along. It is expected by the industry. Those who stay true to God, and take a Biblical stand, are rejected immediately by the sinful world. John 15:19, “If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.” 2nd Timothy 3:12 guarantees that a believer WILL BE persecuted for living in Jesus Christ. If you are not being persecuted in this faithless, wicked and adulterous generation; then you are not living for Jesus Christ!

I sometimes wonder if anyone loves God anymore. Philippians 2:21, “For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's.” I know there are some; but I am having a hard time finding them. I feel like Abraham looking for ten righteous people in Sodom, but he could not find them.

The Christian life is not just for Christian leaders and Gospel preachers; it is for every born-again believer. END
