Blame shifters

Genesis 3:11-13, "And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat."

Human nature never changes. Here we are nearly 6,000 years later and the above passage of Scripture sounds like society today. Adam blamed Eve and Eve blamed the serpent. People have a natural tendency to BLAME someone else for their faults and failures in life.

When Adam and Eve sinned, no one handed them the forbidden fruit. No one put a gun to their head and forced them to eat. They chose to sin of their own freewill. Yet, when they were confronted by God they started pointing fingers.

"...And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat..."

Adam blamed Eve..."It's her fault God!"

Then God confronted Eve...

"...And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat..."

Eve blamed the serpent.

Adam blamed Eve, but it was his own fault. Eve blamed the serpent, but it was her own fault. We cannot grow in the Lord until we learn to accept responsibility for our own mistakes, sins and failures in life. Blaming others will stunt your spiritual growth.

Proverb 28:13, "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy."

Many of the Unsaved Will Blame the Lord On Judgment Day

What will you say to God someday if you die in your sins? The Lord will not break His Word to let you into Heaven in your sins. If you don't want to die in your sins, then you must die in the Lord. To die in the Lord, you need HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS (Matthew 6:33), i.e., the righteousness of Jesus Christ which is solely by faith in Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God (2nd Corinthians 5:21; Romans 10:3-4). To be saved, you simply need to come to God as a guilty sinner and believe on Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God. John 20:31, "But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name."

Many religious but lost people will attempt to blame Jesus on Judgment Day...

Matthew 7:22-23, "Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?  And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."

These apostates became upset with Jesus. They said: we served you, we cast out devils, we did good works, we spoke in your name... Jesus, how could you do this to us? Unfortunately, they didn't obey the Bible. The Bible gives us the will of the Father in John 6:40... to believe on Jesus.

Most religions today, like Seventh Day Adventism, wrongly define faith in Christ as fulfilling all the obligations of the Christian life. Thus, Adventists are trusting in a works type of salvation that requires water baptism, keeping of the Sabbath Day, doing good works, et cetera, as part of saving faith. In sharp contrast, the Bible defines faith as simple trust in the Savior. To add anything to simple faith in Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God, is to pervert the gospel into a lie.

We read in Acts 15:1 that a group of false prophets came from Judaea, teaching that circumcision was necessary for salvation. The Apostle Peter straightened them out doctrinally in Acts 15:11, "But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they." Circumcision had been a ceremonial law required of Old Testament Jews. Peter explained that the Gentiles could be saved without being circumcised, simply by believing on Jesus. The easiest way to corrupt the simplicity that is in Christ is by adding works to the gospel. Tragically, most so-called Christian religious groups teach a perverted gospel, requiring water baptism or self-righteous works to be saved.

Satan is so deceitful (2nd Corinthians 4:4;11:3-4,13-15). I hear so many Catholics say that they're trusting Jesus as the Savior; but they are also relying upon keeping the Ten Commandments and the sacraments of the Catholic Church as part of their salvation, which is a road to Hell. They have corrupted the gospel of Jesus Christ. There is a night and day difference between the teachings of the Catholic Church concerning salvation and what the Bible proclaims. Ephesians 2:8-9 plainly condemns the Catholic religion, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."

Hell is going to filled with religious people who have churchianity without Christianity. They won't have anyone to blame but themselves. All need to be born-again (John 3:5).

It is your simple faith in the Lord Jesus that saves you. Good works cannot save you. In fact, if you add good works to your faith you don't really have faith... you will go to Hell. John 14:6 says that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. ONLY through Jesus can anyone find salvation. You won't be able to blame anyone if you go to Hell except yourself. Only you can make that decision.

A Final Word

Although we can influence others, we cannot make anyone change. Fortunately, we can change ourselves with the Holy Spirit's help. The good thing is that God will only judge us for what we do (Romans 14:12; 2nd Corinthians 5:10-11). Others may slander us, hate us or refuse to forgive us; but God will be our final Judge. Those who judge themselves will not be judged (1st Corinthians 11:31). If we right our wrongs, then we have done all we can. If we admit our past mistakes and seek to do better, we have done all we can. God will judge us accordingly.

May we all be honest with ourselves and not point fingers to blame others if we are wrong. Adam was wrong. Eve was wrong. Yet, they sought to shirk off the responsibility for their actions. Husbands and wives often blame each other, especially after a divorce. The truth is that God said a man and a woman become one in a marriage, and they ought not blame each other.

Biblical love, which is true love, does not seek to blame others; but rather seeks a solution to the problem. This is why God in true love, sent His only begotten Son into the world to pay for our sins. God made a way of escape for Adam and Eve. God offered a solution to the problem. Whereas humanity continually blame each other for everything, God is offering salvation to all mankind through Jesus Christ (2nd Peter 3:9).
