Movies today are nowhere near the quality and sensation that they used to
be. Movies today are garbage! I was disgusted with Avatar 2. It was
evidently made for preschoolers. James Cameron has lost touch with the
viewing audience. The movie Barbie is terrible. The Star Wars franchise has
literally been driven into the ground.
Box office returns are at records lows and I don't blame the public. People are so sick of the same old lame car chases, Charles Bronson type revenge scripts and political agendas being pushed. Hollywood still hasn't learned that if it ain't broke, don't fix it! I miss the good old days when special effects in films were done using conventional methods.
Special effects professional Stan Winston was a master of special effects and did a fantastic job in Aliens, Terminator, Predator, the first three Jurassic Park films, and John Carpenter's 1982 classic horror flick, The Thing (my favorite movie). I miss Stan's creativity and professional special effects. I really hate CGI (Computer Graphics Interface) effects, which is what is used nearly all the time today. All of the new Planet of the Apes films have been done with CGI and they are absolutely unbearable to watch. I love the original five movies done with Charlton Heston (who played Taylor) and Roddy McDowall (who played Cornelius). Those are classics with great scripts!
I've also
noticed that today's younger viewing audience has a much shorter
attention span than we did 50 years ago. Consequently, today's movie are
packed chock full of action, action, action, with scenes changing
multiple times in just seconds, flashing fast enough to induce seizures
(literally). I hate today's boom, bang, zoom movies that give you a
headaches just watching them. They're deliberately made to move very
fast, otherwise today's spoiled younger movie goers will get bored and
withdraw interest. But I much rather prefer a slower movie with a
tantalizing script that keeps you in suspense on the edge of you seat.
Those are great movies!
Today's Music Is Vastly Inferior To The 1980's And Before
I'll take a brief detour from our main topic to speak about today's awful music. Just as today's movies are trash, the same can sadly be said for the music industry. I don't really like any music produced after about 1985 (with a few exceptions). There are no big bands today like there were in the 1970's and 1980's. When I was growing up we had bands like Journey, Cheap Trick, REO Speedwagon, Asia, Foreigner, Bad Company, Bee Gees, Little River Band, Kansas, Firefall, Ambrosia, Orleans and Dr. Hook, just to name but a few. There are no new bands like that anymore.
I humbly think the problem is that we have lost our goodness as a nation. Americans don't appreciate good things anymore. Today's youth gravitate toward the worst in taste of food, clothing, literature, music and movies. Even in Country music back in the 1950's, 1960's, 1970's and early 1980's, singers in Nashville at the Grand Ole Opry had a gleam of sincerity and goodness in their eyes and a shine on their face; but sadly today the singers are obese, having a dull glare in their eyes, and they look phony, disgruntled and unhappy. The timbre (sound quality) of the music itself is terrible. The modernization of the electronics and musician equipment is far inferior to the superior equipment that produced some of the most amazing music recordings of the 1960's and 1970's. Many professional artists seek the old classic Les Paul guitars and Fender tube amps built in the 1950's and 1960's for their unmatched sounds. I don't enjoy the new music being produced, not since about 1985 (with few exceptions). The scripts today are awful. I digress, this article is about why Hollywood is failing, although many of the reasons overlap with the music industry as well.
And by the
way, the MP3 is the worst thing that ever happened to music. It is a
digitally compressed file, not the actual audio recording like a .wav
file. So you lose A LOT of the inherent sound qualities of the music.
You people today think it sounds good, but they have never actually
heard what real genuine great music sounds like. I used to listen to LP
records on a Stereophonic record player. Wow! Now that is how music
should sound.
People Are Sick Of Political Correctness In Movies
With a passion I hate and dread the 2012 prequel to The Thing. One of the things that fans love about the 1982 movie is that it featured ten men with no female actors in the plot. That is more realistic. Liberal whackos and feminists complained, so the script writers of the prequel not only included females in the script, but made the star of the prequel a woman. That ruined the whole film! I'm not against women, but having politically correct agendas shoved in our faces all the time is offensive and is killing Hollywood. Sadly, movie script writers are afraid nowadays to write a script that doesn't cater to the liberals, feminists, homosexuals and race-crazed nuts in American society. These people could find a reason to argue in an empty room.
Since same-sex
marriage became federal law in June of 2015, as I suspected, the
homosexual agenda is being relentlessly promoted by Hollywood. It is
offensive to most people! I dread of the the latest Marvel movie sequels
over the past decade, pushing female superheroes that defeat the
strongest of mighty men with ease. Hollywood shoes women on screen
leading armies, giving orders to men, and beating up a dozen males
single handedly. Nothing is plausible in today's crappy movie plots. I
don't enjoy watching any movies made after 2000, with few exceptions.
Movies Today Are Just Horrible
I could write about this subject for hours. I hate political correctness. I am not a racist and I love different ethnic groups, but it greatly offends me what Hollywood makes movies with a black sheriff, an Asian deputy, a Hispanic bank president, a Caucasian outlaw, a lesbian town minister and a disabled store owner. That is one reason why I don't watch the latest movies anymore, because they are all crap!
I liked back in the 1960's and 1970's when men were men, and women were women. Women looked like women in the 1960's. Even though they sinfully wore miniskirts in the 1960's, at least they still looked like attractive women. Today, movies and video games all portray women as either sluts or masculine she-males. They often portray men as effeminate sissies. Satan always tries to confuse society. The Devil even has children confused about their gender nowadays. Only a wicked spiritually and mentally demented adult would go along with that filth, abnormality and insanity. In the not so distant future, historians will look back upon the United States today and try to understand the mystery behind how our society became so twisted, backwards and demented in our gender-bending insanity. Hollywood and the American media are the primary culprit. I am not surprised one bit why Hollywood is failing today in 2024. Movies are no longer king.
The good old days of going to the cinema to watch a great movie while enjoying a bag of popcorn and a Coke are over! The movies aren't worth wasting $10 to go see. They are total garbage! The offensive political correctness, the cheap CGI effects, the lousy boring scripts, queer scenes, a CIA liaison working in Hollywood to influence movies to brainwash you, the over-the-top raunchiness and graphic language, the poor taste violence, the feminist takeover of Hollywood—this is why Hollywood is failing! I hope they go completely bankrupt and out of business!!!
